The thinks she's doing the right thing... (Aly, Peter, Ken)

Aly was chewing on her fingernails so much she was sure she just might chew her fingers off. Tasha was in hospital and now Peter?! If he had cancer again she was going to scream and the thought of finding Amaris and killing her to let off steam didn’t seem too extreme. That would be thanks to the hot headed nature of her angelic spirit and brother David.

When Peter was returned to the hospital room Aly had been waiting in, he was accompanied by Dr Ken Tracey. Aly stood immediately and Ken turned to her. “It’s not a tumour,” he said before she even had a chance to speak. He would know that would be her first concern. He didn’t let her feel too much relief though. Not for long. “It’s a subarachnoid hemorrhage. We think it was caused by an existing cerebral aneurysm he probably received while having a recent vision. Peter informed me today that he has been having more and more of them lately.

Aly nodded. It was true. It seemed like it was happening every damn day now. “He hit his head on the kitchen bench last week when he went down,” she said weakly. “Ken, I don’t know all your fancy words. What does this mean?”

From the bed, Peter groaned. “Ken…don’t scare my wife.” Aly started. She had thought he was unconscious.

Ken’s expression darkened and he pulled Aly over into a corner so he could speak to her without Peter overhearing, even though all Aly wanted to do was run to Peter and kiss him.. “It means Peter had a head injury and didn’t get it checked out. That head injury caused him to bleed into his brain. That bleeding caused yet more seizures. This morning he even had one which didn’t accompany a vision at all. When he injured his head again during that seizure, the bleeding and the trauma caused a bigger bleed. He’s got a buildup of intercranial pressure now. He bled into his eyes. His cognitive functioning hasn’t been impaired yet, but if we try to operate, there’s a chance it will be. That will be irreversible. My advice is to…to let it run its course.”

Aly knew what that meant. Ken wanted her to let Peter die. And, unfortunately, not only was Ken right, but she really agreed. Peter would hate to go through his life with diminished cognitive ability. It would be irreversible and forever. “Yes,” Aly nodded. “God, how long?"

"I don't know," Ken admitted. "I can't believe he's doing as well as he is... There's no way to gage, Aly."

"And if he keeps having these visions like this...this could keep happening?"

"It's a possibility," Ken said, moving back to test Peter's vitals. "His heartrate is very high..."

"I'm right here," Peter moaned. Aly could tell by the tone of his voice he knew what was happening. So she did the only thing he could. She moved across the room, took his hand, and resolved to hold it until he died. And when he was better again...that was when she was going to inform him that if he didn't start taking his medication, she was going to rip him limb from limb until he listened.
