When Flynn woke up, he had a mouthful of red hair. For a moment, he thought he was on tour again, and he was late for some sort of toury thing. But then he became acclimated to the room and he remembered that Deirdre had shown up the previous night at around ten, and informed him she was sleeping in his bed. Not that he would ever mind. Quite the opposite, in fact. With her here, he could keep an eye on her to make sure she wasn't off raiding villages and slaughtering people. Or whatever it was that demons did...
Flynn lifted himself up on his elbows and he pressed his lips lightly to Deirdre's hair. After first removing it from his mouth, of course. Deirdre stirred and then a third body stirred under the covers and Flynn blinked wildly in alarm before James stuck his head out from under the blanket and he grinned sleepily.
"Morning!" James chriped at them both.
Flynn chuckled. He had had no idea James had joined them. He must have done it in the middle of the night. "Morning, James." Flynn grinned widely, and he looked over to Deirdre. "We have a clandestine visitor."
Deirdre laughed and she reached forward to ruffle James' hair. "Hi, Kiddo. Haven't seen you in a while." Abby had been occupying James' time while Deirdre was recording and Flynn was missing. It wouldn't do to have James idle while he was worrying about being abandoned again. "How are you?"
"Good!" James reached forward to touch her messy hair. "Quinny usually sleeps here, you know."
"I know. I'm just a guest." Deirdre winked. "That's okay, right?"
"Okay!" James jumped out of the bed then, clambering over Flynn to do so, as he had been between them. "I want cereal!"
"I'll be down in a minute!" Flynn called after him as James rushed out the door and down the stairs. "Off he goes. He's like...Rocketboy."
"Totally." Deirdre stared at the door for a momenrt and then she turned back to Flynn. "We could make one of those, you know."
Flynn paled as he stared at her. The only thing that eventually came out of his mouth was a sort of strangled, "whuuaahhh?"
"Well Spectre and I have a deal, but he has James and Marie to take care of all by himself right now. Okay not...there's Stephie, duh Deirdre, and then you and Abby and...okay, you know what I mean!! Anyway, so we probably won't..you know...do that for a while, but you and I could."
Even through all of Deirdre's motormouthing, Flynn hadn't had a chance to gain a mental toehold. "You...me...baby?!"
"Yeah! Quinn wants one, right?"
"Er.."
"And I want one now too." Deirdre brightened up, and it almost killed Flynn that he was going to be the reason that brightness faded away. He would have done anything to prevent that... "And I'm...almost sure I could keep a baby alive-"
"But..."
"And yeah, the baby would be a demon, but that's okay, right?! I mean, I'm not ideal, but I'm okay... Right?"
"Er...yes. Yes, Deirdre, you're fine. And I don't care from demons or angels or like...baby swamp things. That's not...Deirdre, I don't want a kid right now." Especially not right now. Not with his deal with the PIRA. He couldn't risk starting a family while this was going on. He was too young, besides. Quinn had his studies and he still worked at a library for practically nothing. He made so little that sometimes he ate only ramen for a few days until his next paycheck, unless Flynn happened to notice and force filling his fridge with groceries on him. And Flynn didn't exactly make a lot of money either... "Yes, Quinn wants a baby, but we don't have the money-"
"I do." Deirdre said easily. And Flynn had to admit she had a point there. She was loaded and could easily afford a baby.
"It's...not just that. Deirdre, we're too young."
"Too young?! You're older than me! You're older than Kay! Hell, you're a year older than Kat and you're a hell of a lot more stable than she was-"
"Deirdre." Flynn reached out to touch her arm lightly. "I...I'm just not ready for that. Really."
Deirdre frowned and then she was about to say something else when James yelled from downstairs. "Flynny! I'm hungrrryyyy!"
Flynn cast a fond look towards the door, and then he leaned forward to plant a kiss on Deirdre's forehead. "I love you. And I'm so sorry I can't do this for you." And then he rose to go get breakfast for his godson.
