Louise's life (Peter, Louise's Letters)

Jan 07, 2009 10:31

After spending an afteroon with his cousin, and having seen his Uncle Wolfgang that morning, Peter felt the urge to read some of his mother's letters again. He hadn't done so in a long time, as they had been quite wonderfully distracting while he was laid up with a brain tumour, but since then he'd been a bit pre-occupied with the threat of imploding London.

He opened the box of letters again now, and he unfolded another few very carefully. Spreading them out before him, he picked up the one with the earliest date. He recognised it as about a week after his parents had gotten married.

Dear Ginny,

Wasn't the wedding glorious?! Thank you so much for calming me down before the ceremony and for making the reception such a scream! Someone had to liven it up, because the Kempfs sure didn't! How dull were they? They need to learn something about fun. I am so glad Klaus dropped the f from his name so it's more English. Kemp is so much nicer and I don't want to be associated with his family. I'm Mrs. Louise Kemp! I can't believe it!

We've been all around the world on our honeymoon. We're going to Russia next! And then on to Dresden to see the Kempfs again, wish me luck. I plan to do a great deal of reading, though Klaus assures me there are plenty of things at the Kempf manor to keep my interest. Namely him!

Speaking of my wonderful husband, you have no idea how happy he makes me! He's so incredible! In every meaning of the word. Mmhmmmm!

At that, Peter made a face at the letter his mother had written. He could infer what his mother was getting at there, and it was gross! "That's quite enough of that, thank you." Peter said, and he folded up the letter and put it back in the box. He selected another letter, and he hoped that the contents thereof would be somewhat less naughty.

Dear Ginny,

Sorry I haven't written in a while. Klaus and I finished our honeymoon and it was amazing. We're both back in London now, living in his amazing house. It's so big! It has a sun room and so many bedrooms I can't keep track. There's a game room with a bar and a library where Klaus set up his office. The garden is beautiful and I'm so happy with it. I want to raise a family right away, but Klaus said it's better if we wait. He's busy getting known in the industry and I'm finishing up my law degree. He's right, but oh I wish he wasn't!

How is darling, Mathilda!? Tell her that Aunty Louise loves her very much. And Ginny, please send pictures!

All my love,

Lou

Peter wanted to skip a few months to see what happened further on down the line, but he heard a cry pierce the silence, which meant little Lauren was up from her nap. The letters would have to wait for another day.
