Peter couldn't get Tamm's comment to Stephie out of his head. I have to do well now. I can't keep freaking out about the shit that happened, cos what's that gonna do to my baby? I guess I'm following in Peter's footsteps like that. I know a big part of why he can deal the way he does is because of his kids. Peter knew Tamm to be absolutely right. The reason he could do what he did was because of his kids, and Aly of course. And if there was Hell coming their way, he was going to fight it for them.
Both Lauren and Thomas were down for the night, though there was never any knowing how long Lauren would stay down. She seemed restful enough at the moment, so Peter made his way into the movie room where Anna, Lydia and Caleb were watching some terrible cartoon thing with talking animals that made Peter cringe, but he didn't care. He just wanted to be with them. Tasha, Rasputina, Thomas and Lauren weren't here, but three were too young to understand and Peter hoped Tasha was old enough to know already, though he tried to tell her how much he loved her as often as he could. "Hey." He said softly, and all three heads turned to look at him. Peter smiled to see that.
"Daddy!" Anna squealed, jumping from the sofa to attach herself to Peter's legs.
"Ooof! That's...You're getting so strong." Peter reached down to swing her up into his arms. She was small for her age, but she was still 10, and it wasn't easy. "How's my girl?"
"Good! We're watching Oliver! Caleb's being the Billy Joel dog!"
"It's because I got a cool groove." Caleb informed Peter, giving him the double-barelled finger guns.
"I see that!" Peter couldn't help but grin.
"Is everything okay, Dad?" Ever-practical Lydia asked him.
"Everything's fine. I just wanted to see how you were. How you've been. You know, since dinner when I saw you last." Peter winked and Lydia giggled.
"You're so weird."
"I know, I do feel for you." Peter informed her and then he looked towards Anna again. "I just missed you. I am rather fond, you know."
Anna nodded and she touched Peter's face. "Do you want to be the Billy Joel dog?"
"Oh dear. You're going to make me sing with the animals, aren't you?" Peter's voice was wary then. Animals shouldn't sing! It was unnatural!
"Pleeeaaasssseeeeeeeee!?" Anna asked him, giving him the Anna Patented Frowny Face, which Peter could never resist. It was too frowny and it melted his heart.
"Oh alright. But only because I love you." He kissed her cheek and set her down on the sofa once more, before settling in beside her. "You all know that right?"
"Yeah!" Caleb said, pumping one fist in the air, in typical Caleb fashion.
"We love you too, Dad." Lydia said with a smile, and then she pointed at the screen. "You're on, Daddy G."
"Just don't tell anyone..." Peter mumbled before launching into the song that was playing on the screen as his children grinned and Anna danced along.
