Greg, this upsets me because I know this post is partially refering to me. I'm not ignorant. And I don't love Joey any less because I choose not to read those books.
"Experience is the best teacher" This refers to YOUR OWN experiences, not others. Relationships and life in general is NO FUN if you learn everything on your own. Embrace the concept of trial and error. We're 16 (17...), we're young. If our current relationships last forever, great! If they don't, then it wasn't meant to be. Live in the moment, and don't worry about the too-distant future. I DID THAT, and that was, at one point in one relationship, my downfall.
So just believe that with work, not a TON of work but work, things will work out the way they are supposed to. Relationships are not an exact science, with real statistics and numbers, and the same concepts and techniques don't apply to everyone. Obviously the concept of using books as guides for a relationship isn't the best for me and the other person you're refering to. It's good for you and Mona maybe, but not for everyone :)
