 *Hiroki reaches up and tugs on the cat ears on top of his head. Not his headphones. He...kind of can't even hear his music out of them properly anymore, so they're down around his neck right now. They're simple, the fur on them fluffy and black.*

This sort of thing has happened before?

Yeah, it happens every couple weeks or so. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Last time there were all these weird monsters hanging around. One time we had a ball and there were gross jellyfish everywhere. One time everyone lost one of their senses, so on, so forth.

[darkequilibrium]

So that's why those monsters came out of nowhere...

Man, I'm so used to fighting monsters I didn't really think anything of it.

[girlpowertouka]

Hmm? You're used to fighting monsters?

[darkequilibrium]

*....oops.*

Y-yeah. In my world, demons appeared in Tokyo and began tearing up everything...my friends and I and a lot of others fought them back to protect people.

[girlpowertouka]

Oh......sometimes monsters and stuff attack our town. And youkai hunters. My friends and I fight them, too, to protect our town......

[She pauses.]

Well, okay, mostly they fight them and I watch. But I help sometimes......

[darkequilibrium]

As long as you do what you can.

Youkai hunters...?

[girlpowertouka]

Yeah, they're like, people who.....hunt youkai?

[Touka is so not good at explanations.]

They're supposed to have some sort of ability that kind of neutralizes a youkai's ability? Or something. I can't really remember. They're supposed to be like a youkai's...natural predator? Something like that. I don't really understand.

So why where demons attacking Tokyo in your world?

[Other than the fact that Tokyo is a weirdness magnet, of course.]

...Weird.

The demons were summoned by a cult called the Shomonkai. When the government heard about it they completely locked down the entire Yamanote Loop. Military barricades everywhere.

...Touka...

Are you a "youkai" too? *he's just curious is all.*

Wow. Weird. Why did the cult summon the demons?

And...um......

[Damnit. Said too much. Oh well, he would have found out eventually anyway. She looks away from him and says the next part quietly.]

Yeah. I am.

[darkequilibrium]

*he...smiles.* It's okay. I don't mind. I'm... *wow he almost let that slip didn't he.* ...not bothered by it. Not all the demons I knew were evil. There's no reason for me to think that you would be.

*...there's surprising subtlety in how he changes the subject away from the Lockdown isn't there.*

[She smiles a little, but still looks uncomfortable.]

Thanks......there...there aren't a lot of people who think that way. Well, in my town there are, but most other places......

[Yeah, she's pretty much already forgotten about it, anyway. That stuff is pretty normal to her.]

Well, you're nice. Even if I hadn't ever met a demon before, I wouldn't think it made you a bad person.

[She smiles, looking comfortable again.]
