We Are B.A.P Yes Sir! - A B.A.P Primer (pt. 1)

(Note: some of these gifs that are linked aren't related to the words, I just want to share them)

(L-R: Jongup, Daehyun, Youngjae, Himchan, Yongguk, Zelo)

B.A.P (비에이피) is a 6 member boy band under TS Entertainment. Their name is an acronym for Best Absolute Perfect. They made their debut on January 27th, 2012 with the song Warrior. Their fanclub is Babys and their (unofficial) color is spring green. The symbol that is most associated with the group is the Matoki. Toki (토끼) is the Korean word for rabbit. Each rabbit has a different colored mask (masked toki becomes matoki) , to represent each member (Yongguk is red, Himchan is pink, Daehyun is grey, Youngjae is yellow, Jongup is green and Zelo is blue)

B.A.P's concept in the beginning is that they come from the planet Mato with the mission to conquer earth through their music. They've stuck to the concept pretty well so far, since their both their tours have been called 'Live on Earth'.

Name: Bang Yongguk
Birthday: March 31, 1990
Position: leader, main rapper

Without sounding completely biased, Yongguk is probably one of the best leaders in kpop. As charismatic as he is on stage, he is pretty reserved and quiet off stage. He often doesn't talk much in group interviews unless he's talking about their music. He's the oldest of the group and his nickname is 'gramps' because he "moves and speaks slowly" - really, if you listen to him speak, it seems like it takes forever for him to get a sentence out and he's generally seen as the father of the group. He's probably the most well known out of everyone in the group because before he debuted with B.A.P, he released a solo song and featured on Song Jieun's song "Going Crazy" which was really popular when it released. He also takes part in almost every aspect of B.A.P's music - he wrote every song on "First Sensibility".

He is really respected by his members, they always speak really highly of him, especially about how they inspire them to not only be better artists but better people. He believes that idols should show themselves as role models to their fans, and set good examples for them. He's very involved with charities, like UNICEF. He sponsors children and brings awareness to various social issues to fans, and encourages them to donate to charity, rather than spend money on gifts for him. He once wrote a post on B.A.P's fancafe asking permission from the fans if he could donate the many stuffed animals he receives as gifts to young children at a hospital.

He truly loves performing, especially in front of his fans. You can tell how much he loves his job as an artist when he performs, he always gives his all even when he's tired.

Above everything else, sometimes he is too adorable for words without even trying. Sometimes he just acts really cute without even trying or he's acting really weird, but when he's around the other members he acts like a little kid, even though he's the oldest. Anytime you see his perfect gummy smile, it's impossible to not smile with him (wow that was cheesy BUT TRU). But then when he on stage he gets really sexy and it's difficult to handle.

Name: Kim Himchan
Birthday: April 19, 1990
Position: vocals, visual

Himchan is the mood maker of B.A.P. It's difficult to imagine what the group would be like without him because he always creates a fun atmosphere no matter what the situation is. Before their One Shot promotions, Himchan fell and broke two fingers, so he couldn't promote with the group. But when he came back, you could see the the difference in the way the group acted - they were just so much happier. He's often called the mother of the group, because he's always nagging the members, but he really does take care of them (him and Yongguk have called the members 'the kids' before, heh). Off stage, he's really fun and sweet and cute, but on stage, he's a showman.

In the beginning, Himchan didn't get many lines in their songs, but now, he really gets to show case his voice, which is really quite beautiful. He's really intelligent when it comes to music - he studied multiple traditional Korean instruments in school and can also play the guitar and drums. He is...sometimes called useless by some, but truthfully he brings a lot to the group.

Himchan values the fans so much, he is always so thankful for their undying support. He takes pictures of fans at all of their concerts and uploads them to the fancafe. He is always fun to watch at fansigns, because he's always giving so much attention to the fans - posing for pictures and interacting with the camera, plus he always gives the cutest faces.

And his selca game is top notch.

Name: Jung Daehyun
Birthday: June 28th, 1993
Position: main vocal

I could honestly wax poetic about Daehyun for days. He is such an incredibly talented singer - if you watch him perform during their concerts, it's like listening to the recording, he is seriously never off pitch. He was the last to join the group, and he only trained for 6 months before joining B.A.P. Youngjae said that he's forever grateful that Daehyun joined, because the pressure of high notes was taken off his shoulders. Daehyun's high notes are heard in almost every song and he is consistent in nailing them during live performances. One of the reasons I love Daehyun so much is that he has this undying passion for singing and is always trying to improve his skills.

Daehyun has amazing charisma on stage and he treats every performance like it's their debut. When B.A.P finally won first place on a music show, he was smiling from ear to ear. Since he typically has the most lines in each song, he works really hard and he puts a lot of effort into each performance. During the second day of their concert, Daehyun cried while thanking his parents for their support of him, and even teared up when Yongguk spoke about how hard he works towards making a living.

His personality off-stage is so much different than when he's performing and in music videos. He's loud - he likes to talk a lot, and he loves to be in front of the camera. I love to see his child-like side come out when he's playing around with the younger members. He always gives a lot of fanservice, too, and he's incredibly thankful for the fans' support.

He's also incredibly gorgeous. All the time.
