An update!

Well, I'm exhausted! I've spent about 10 hours today studying for my second dynamics exam tomorrow, on top of about 6 hours on saturday and 4 on friday. That class is demanding...or maybe it is just that I haven't been putting as much time into it since the first exam as I should have been. Fortunately I am feeling fairly confident, and hopefully I do well tomorrow.

Overall, classes have been going very well! (Knocks on wood). Here's a breakdown of my grades thus far:

Electronics I (Exam 1) - 100%
Linear Control Systems (Quiz 1) - 93.4%
Linear Control Systems (Exam 1) - 98% (104% after curve)
Dynamics (Exam 1) - 98% before curve (and I had the only A in the class before the curve :P)
Computer Engineering - (Exam 1 - written) - 96% (116% after curve)
Computer Engineering - (Exam 1 - code) - 100%

Now, I don't get these grades sitting on my ass :P. I study my butt off, and fortunately it has paid off so far.

So I'm leaning towards getting into the Lockheed Martin co-op program starting next summer (or MAYBE spring). If I get accepted once I apply, I'll be able to work between 12 and 20 hrs a week. The pay rate is excellent at $17-ish/hr for juniors and $19-ish for seniors. By summer, I think I should be a senior. (EDIT: Wow, I just checked my audit, and apparently I have 95 applied to my degree program of a total of 102 taken. I guess I am a senior now. I didn't even know it, lmfao).

I could also go for a summer internship with Lockheed, but I hear the co-op program is better. I'm not sure about the payrates with the internship positions, etc. I'll need to do some research.

NASA also has an awesome co-op program to work with the space shuttle, but it is an alternating one. That is, I work full time one semester, go to school the next, and go back and forth. I also need to work at least semesters prior to graduation, so there is a commitment there (which isn't necessarily bad). The pay is good there too. The downsides are delay in graduation and the time it would take to get to Kennedy Space Center.

I also talked to Andew the other day, and he said he could get me a job at Alcon pretty much on request. I'm not as interested in working for them, though. I'll need to find out more about the company, as they seems to work with eyeglass equipment (meaning lasers, etc). The pay is O.K., but the upside is it is right in Research Park, so it would take very little time to get back and forth.

I'll be doing some thinking about where I want to work at to get some experience. I don't think I will have too much of a problem getting a position somewhere, and I don't want to just take whatever I can get. I want to work somewhere that will aid in getting a good career that I enjoy.

Anyway, enough typing for tonight. I need some rest. Oh yeah, I can't wait till my 21st birthday on the 18th! Man, I feel old. And no, I don't plan on getting "crunk" or drunk. I may go get some Mike's Hard Lemonade or Cranberry drinks though :P.
