Weeping Ballad By: Karen M DeWalls
I’ve been looking for the saddest songs
Sing me to sleep, just for a night to forget
Over-whelming feelings swell up inside
I tried to see past this
Break away from the cover page
Wanting and needing a voice of comfort
Trying this night and the next
How could I ever find my home
I’m to lost to even be found
At the stroke of midnight the ballad plays on
Coursing through their dances
Their fancy halls
They never knew I’ve been there all this time
Weeping like a child, ashamed to feel like this
Strike your pose and smile
I’ve been clinging to this post for sometime
I know the words to say, the fatal looks to show
Clearing a distance between themselves and me
A growing outcast I’ve become
Past the growing walls
Through the numbness my body feels
I’ve fallen, looking at the ground
Caressing the carpet as these tears fall
One more pause and soon the blood shall flow
Their ballad plays on
Through their dances
Through their fancy halls
They never noticed the noose dangling from their ceiling
Never knew, I finally let go
