Have you ever felt yourself slipping? Back to the person you used to be? Did you ever wonder why you changed? I have days when I look in the mirror and see a younger Jodi staring back at me. That sounds more like depression than isolation. I understand that the situation is less than ideal but Jodes, there are still people in that town who would love to know you, to spend time laughing and learning with you, building a friendship that becomes a support system or even yet, a new type of family. I have been there too and it sucks. Do you have opportunities that you are avoiding because it is hard to make it work? Do the kids go to Mother's Day Out? Are there any opportunities to volunteer to help there? Anything that you can do to be in contact with other women is a chance to make a new friend.

I remember the first time, after moving to Missouri, that I actually invited 3 women to my house for lunch. God, I still break out in a sweat just thinking about it! It was so hard but it gave me three really good friends, women who liked me just the way I was.

All of us, your imaginary friends, love you just the way you are. I hope that you are going to find new IRL friends that love you just as much because you are prickly, you are funny, you are uniquely you, you are smart, you love beyond the expected when you love. Give someone, a new friend, a chance to discover how amazing we all know you are.

BTW, I am sooooo not judging. I don't even like talking on the phone much less looking for people who might be new friends.
