Today I wasn't in school because I had to go to the hospital for an endoscopy. It is when the doctors shove a tube with a camera and light down your throat and into your gut to take pictures to see if there is any ulcers or inflammation. I had to tank up on water until 8:30 this morning because I had to be really hydrated. I was actually pretty nervous about the whole test, although I hate to admit it. When they called me in, they had me put on a hospital dress while the nurse explained what they were going to do. Then, I had to go into a different room where the nurse put three circular disk-looking things on my chest to monitor my heart rate and a metal thingie on the end of my left hand middle finger to monitor the oxygen in my body. I was literally wired! After that, the nurse stuck me in the wrist with an IV. It had only water in it for about five minutes to hydrate me more, but then the doctor put the anesthetics in it. WhoooWeeeee! That stuff kicks butt! I didn't feel different for about a minute, then I started to get light-headed and all the sudden I just started full out giggling! I couldn't stop myself; I laughed so hard that the other nurses started giggling right along with me! I don't even remember falling asleep, but I guess I did and when I woke up I was in the Recovery Room with the IV still in my wrist. I was feeling pretty woozy and tired and my throat hurt a bit, but a really nice nurse offered me a popsicle; I ended up eating two! Dang they tasted good! My mom wheeled me out to the car, which was across the street and up six levels by elevator in a wheelchair because my legs still felt somewhat like jelly. The ride home was pretty uneventful, but I must emphasize that the drivers in Boston can be pretty rude! Well, all I can say about being put out with anesthetics is that you can't feel or remember anything, let alone dream. Thing about the feeling as being the mother of all Benadryl medicine(anti-histamine)!
