It's Just Me
It's me Nathan. I am writing this from Eugene Oregon. I am at my uncle's house with him my aunt my cousain and my sister. Well as most people know I left on Wednesday well it has been busy to say the least. On Thursday we left to go to camping. That was geat believe it or not with tents and all. My aunt and cousain Kristi who is 19 are geat cooks. The food was great so was the River the McKenzie. It comes from the mountains so it is freezing cold. Camping was wonderful my uncle came for the second day (Friday) he is great. We went up to see Sahalie Falls which is this huge waterfall. It is the McKenzie. Every year like one person dies by falling down the falls. This guy almost became the one for this year. He was standing out really far on the rocks. After that we went on to see more sites. Oh man I should organize this. Okay starting out then.
On Friday we went to a resort for part if the day with hot springs which was cool but kinda sucked cause it was summer. There was a huge Greek like gardehn there though. The best part of the day was going to the lava fields. They are up this old highway that winds up a mountain. They are around a mile high. The fields are about a thousand years old. The area is just open fields of rock. it is amazing, spectacular, splendid. It is cool and windy. In Oregon it is really hot actually. The mountains are cool and windy. The lava fields are the coolest thing ever. They end up being like a huge playground. I shoulda taken a picture. Wait there are some I can show eventually. The rocks are a huge playground although they can be dangerous. At the observbatory I met a big hiker and his son which was cool too. The mountains here are my favorite thing of all. From the lava fields which are of course treeless I can see a bunch of mountains like the sisters and little brother and Washington and Jefferson and Black Butte and Three Fingered Jack. There is one more too I can't remember the name of but it is the one that erupted it is like Mount McKenzie i think like the river.
Well on Saturday after we finished camping we went up the road aways more. Oh by the way we camped about an hour away from Eugene in Paradise. Thats the name of the campground. After picking up our campsite we left for Sahalie Falls and Sisters which is kinda a touristy cowboy town. I got a necklace there I guess I can wear it the first day of school. Sister's was fun to hang in for awhile it is in the high desert. Oh that reminds me of last year when I was out here. I in one day can go to the beach and sand dunes in sweltering heat and go high in the mountains to have a snow ball fight and then go to the dessert where only scrub brush grows. WIthin the process see beautiful pine forests and Crater Lake the most beautiful deep blue lake ever. It has a crazy story uf anybody is curious. Anyways though we also saw ther mouth of the Matolius River. It comes right out of the ground and becomes huge. That was it because it was at least an hour and 30 minute drive home. That was great because I got to go with just my uncle and we talked about all kinds of things. He is absolutely great. After getting back and looking around I must say things are beautiful here. I think I want to live here when I get older because it is simply wonderful here. So refreshing and spectacular and there are all kinds of things to see. Maybe I will just come here for my honeymoon because it is that great we could stay at a resort or anything. To continue though.
On Sunday or rather today there were two major highlights. The first was going to this other snaller river to go swimming. It is so so so cool. There are all kinds of fun things there. Little rapids all kinds of like deep pools and it is pretty much not used by anybody. There are some people but most stay in the more popular places where they can dive. Then when we got back to Eugene after going to Dairy Queen we went to see Elaine a 93 year old woman dying in bed. We all tried to cheer her up as best we could and I think I did it. Hse got really happy when she talked about me and everything. I hope I helped her some. We came back and now I am sitting here although we have been back for a while.
For this week we are working on a schedule. I am working at least 4 hours a day for Tuesday though Friday. Tomorrow I am getting up at 8 and going with my cousain to LCC (Lane Community College) to scope it out. That goes till 9:30 and then I am going to see my uncle at his work. That will be cool cause we are getting ready for me to work during the week. On Thursday I am going to see the University of Oregon which is right here in Eugene. On Saturday we are leaing early for Portland. We will got to the Japanese garden and theRose garden which are supposed to be awesome. I can't wait after that we are having lunch and going shopping in beautiful downtown Portland. I'm going to have fun doing that I think. Now Between the money I have now and what I have been given for this trip and what I am going to make I should have 400 dollars my uncle tells me. I am giving some to Kristi for her trip to Europe with her family. She is working so hard to get some from her job so I am going to help out. I don't really care about money though but this is going to last me for a while. Alright now for the biggest news of all. I am gonna got to probably France for a few weeks next Summer and do a homestay with a family. Oh and if anybody gives me their full address I will send a postcard if I can. It might beat me back. alright well thast enough for now good night everybody I wish you could be enjoying this wonderful state.
