main character: Jung Yonghwa
pairings: Yonghwa/Hongki
Yonghwa had invited Hongki to come with him to the café he was always going to, the one where Seohyun was working.
Seohyun wasn’t working that day, but Yonghwa had invited her as well and she came with Jae Sun. He introduced her to Hongki and vice-versa before all grabbed coffees and snacks. They went to sit at a table together and started talking. Eventually, the conversation shifted toward relationships because they were all young adults and it was only natural for people their age to talk about that kind of thing. It started with Hongki asking Seohyun when she had gotten her first kiss. She had blushed as she ran her fingers into Jae Sun’s hair, but after a moment, she answered him.
“It happened a little over two years ago. The boy I liked had asked me to go to an amusement park with him and at the end of the day, after walking me back home, he kissed me. It was really sweet, but I was so nervous I felt like I was shaking like a leaf, but I am not sure whether he could tell or not. I remember every detail from that moment; from what we were wearing to the taste of his mouth,” she chuckled and then asked Hongki about his first kiss.
He grinned behind his cup of coffee before setting it down and leaning slightly forward as if he was going to share some bit secret with them.
“My first kiss was stolen away from me by a little girl with pigtails when I was five years old. One day, as I was just happily playing in the sandbox, building tiny mountains and then crashing my truck toy in them, she ran up to me, slapped her hands on my cheeks and gave me a wet smooch on the lips. I’m pretty sure I started crying right after it happened and my mother was just laughing with her friends because she thought it was adorable.”
His story caused Yonghwa to look at him with wide eyes, but then he started laughing, joining Seohyun who had erupted into laughter as soon as Hongki had mentioned the little girl’s actions. Hongki grinned at them and leaned back on his chair. “And my first real kiss with another boy happened when I was fifteen. There was nothing sweet about it though. I didn’t like the boy like that, to me he was just a friend and so I tried to push him away, but he shoved me against a locker and forced his tongue into my mouth. You know at that point, I just let him do whatever he wanted, but when he pulled away, I grabbed my stuff and I never talked to him again.”
Seohyun reached out across the table to grab his hand and held it in hers as if she was trying to silently let him know that she understood how that felt like. He smiled at her and then they both turned to Yonghwa. “What about you?” they asked together, Seohyun readjusting Jae Sun in her arms and Hongki cupping his chin in the palm of his hand as he rested his elbow on the table.
“Me? Well it was nothing special I mean,” he started to say, but then he hesitated and started gnawing on his bottom lip, hands twisting nervously on his lap. He saw his friends exchange a glance and look back at him curiously. He took a deep breath and sighed loudly.
“I’ve never kissed anyone before,” he finally admitted, keeping his eyes on his knees as he didn’t want his friends to see how his cheeks were burning red from the shame. He just didn’t like admitting that at 21 years old, he had never been kissed. He felt a hand reaching for his and fingers tangling with his, which made Yonghwa look up and see that Seohyun and Hongki were both smiling at him softly. There was no hint of laughter in their eyes. They were not going to make fun of him.
“There is nothing wrong with that,” Seohyun started to say. “If I had not had mine with that boy a little over two years ago, I would probably still be waiting for it to happen.”
Hongki, who was the one who had grabbed his hand, squeezed it gently in his and said: “I’ll just have to make sure this change soon.”
