Seohyun became part of Yonghwa's life when he returned to the café, a few days later, to retrieve his forgotten scarf.
It was a relatively busy moment of the day, at least for the employees of the café. Most of them were hurrying back and forth and between the tables, cleaning and serving. Yonghwa was waiting for his turn, standing in line. He figured that he could get something warm to drink and maybe read a little after asking to get his scarf back, but his plans got changed when someone pushed something against his chest with a rushed "please hold him a second, I'll be right back."
Before he could even protest, or see who had pronounced the words, he ended up with a newly added weight in his arms, warm and slightly pudgy. He frowned and looked down, his gaze falling on an adorable baby boy who was looking up at him with wide, curious eyes. Yonghwa's eyes widened in surprise and he shifted the baby in his arms so that he would be holding him better and he looked around, trying to find the person who had just handed the little boy to him, but other than the girls working at the café, most of the people currently standing were men.
The baby boy started babbling and making tiny bubbles with his mouth, drool sliding down his chin and onto the miniature hoodie he was wearing. Yonghwa rapidly turned to the counter to pick up some napkins and gently wiped the drool from the baby's chin. He didn't have much experience with babies other than the rare times where, during family reunions, his aunt would come with his baby cousin.
His turn to order came while he still had his arm full. Thankfully, when the time came to pay, someone lifted the little boy out of his arms and he turned his head to see a smiling Seohyun cooing at the baby. Of course, he didn't know her name yet because they hadn't properly introduced themselves to each other, but he was coming so often that he was able to recognize her.
"Thanks for watching him while I was gone," she said softly as her right hand readjusted the red hat on the baby's head.
- Is he yours?
- Yes he is. Jae Sun and I were about to go take a walk in the park, would you like to join us?
Yonghwa explained that he had came to pick up his scarf and after a gasp from Seohyun, he ended up with little Jae Sun in his arms again. Seohyun came back not too long after with his scarf and wrapped it around his neck. She then picked her little boy back into her arms and waited for Yonghwa to retrieve his order before walking out with him.
They ended up spending the afternoon together. They walked side by side for a long time, Seohyun pushing Jae Sun's stroller to lull him to sleep. They formally introduced themselves and shared about their lives. He was twenty-one and living a life full of freedom. She was nineteen and already tied down with responsibilities.
They promised to see each other again.
