Yay!
We will go from:
this:
to this:
1. our base.
Must.Be.brightened. yesyes. So we follow the brightening method! The picture's kinda dark, so we're going to lighten it up a bit. Go to adjust//color balance//black and white points. You will see 3 different color boxes. Set the colors (in this order) to: black, gray, and white. The gray determines the brightness, so be careful.
Whenever you brighten, unfortunately, it looks a little . . bitmappish. Not too much, but just a little bit. So to make this smoother to work with (don't want any little areas getting to rbight or too dark!) we go to adjust//photo fix//digital camera noise removal. move the little boxes around until you have an area you like best. set the noise correction to 15. Our results are this:
Doens't seem like much, but trust me, when making it the differences are huge.
2. Take this texture by
colorwhirl and set it as a new layer on top of our base. Set it to 'overlay' at 80% opacity.
now she looks a little dark, and a little 'burned'. So we're going to go back to black and white points. Set the box at the bottom to 'preserve lightness' and set the middle box to a lightish purple.
3. Now we're done wiht this base. Let's get to the next one!
DO NOT BRIGHTEN UP THE BASE YET.
Paste this base as a new layer on top of what we have, first. It won't effect the icon until we get to properties, so we're safe.
now, we go to adjust//hue and saturation//hue and saturation. Set the hue to purple, and the saturation to be bright (but not TOO bright).Press ok.
NOW we brighten up the base by going back to black and white points. We don't need to do photo fix or contrast here, since the other image will darken it somewhat.
4. Now go to properties and set this to 'soft light'!
now you can see it finally coming together! Merge the layers, and you should be done wiht this part.
5. Now, take a phrase. The strong word of that phrase (the word that sticks out most to you) is what we'll be using. In this case, our phrase is 'moon prism power'. We take the word 'power' out of that and stick it into a text box. The text we are using today is 'tsich'.
make it large enough to fit most of the bottom pretty well, and there's room on the sides. Now, convert the text to a raster layer, and divide it into two. move the top or bottom half (in this case the bottom half) of the text down far enough so that we can stick some smaller text in between. If you need to move the peices around until it suites you, be my guest ;-)
no we take the rest of our phrase, put it in a text box, and set the font size to 8. Then we move it so that it's in the middle of the two peices of 'power'. You will probably want to keep the text style the same (as in, make them both 'tsich', not one as 'tsich' and the other as 'CG Omega'. This make's it look akward.)

Any Questions//Comments?
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Many people wanted this one. I'm rather happy about the result myself ^^
Probably uploading wiht some more graphics tomorrow .. so be on the lookout!
