... You guys have any good "rule of thumb" type things to follow? Any simple guidelines?
Myself, am a big fan of the 4:2 rule.
Say you have 7/8 in your hand and the flop comes out 5/6/K. You have an outside straight draw. This leaves you 8 outs. (the four 9's and the four 4's).
If you have two cards to go (turn and river), multiply your outs by 4. 8*4=32. You have approximately a 32% chance to hit your straight on the next two cards.
If you have only one card to go (river only), multiply your outs by 2. 8*2=16. You have approximately a 16% chance to hit your straight on the river.
Anyone else got anything good?
