hands and thoughts.

one: today in a tournament at mark and ken's place, i was able to check in the big blind with 2/6, and the board came out with 222. Later that same night in a cash game in which the antes were checked around, i had 4/5 and the flop came out 555. two flopped quads in one night. Pretty fantastic.

two: this week was the first time i played a relatively serious live poker game in a while, and i discovered that i play better poker in person than online in general not just because i can get better reads on people and the situations as a general rule, but just because i have more time to determine exactly what the best play for me is as opposed to online where the reaction time has to be fairly quick. I'm glad FT has the option for extra "time" if necessary, but the countdown of 90 seconds or whatever they give you is fairly distracting and generally i feel pressured into making a decision to maintain the table's desired pace of the game.

i think that over time the knowledge i keep gaining from experience and from reading new books and etc. will become more instinctual, but it's argument that i should play more live games, more casino games and card club games just so i can 'train' more properly, if that makes sense, so that once the more complex calculations and psychology becomes more natural, i can adjust to the faster pace of online play more successfully and think levels deep i might need to for those occasional more tricky situations.
