Title: Every Moment
Vidder:
darkbunnyrabbitFandom: Heroes
Spoilers: 1x01-2x06
Song & Artist: These Dreams, by Heart
Couple: Claire/Nathan (You could see it as Claire/West, but it would make very little sense)
Character POV: Claire
Genre: Romance, angst, character study
Rating: PG
Warnings: None, really. Just...mass convolution
Summary: Spoilers up to 2x06 but massively, massively AU. For purposes of keeping this vid only slightly convoluted, it is assumed that Claire is the biological daughter of the Bennets.
This isn't set any specific episode, but if I were to choose a point, it would be somewhere around Unexpected, but without her merry adventure for bio-parents.
I've been wanting to do this vid FOREVER--it took me nearly a month to find the right song, and wait for enough footage of West. That said, West is not West in this vid.
Bright white glow = Dreams/memories
The beginning and the end are a bit vague, and I didn't uses subtitles, so you'll probably have to read the story to understand it all, but it does spoil the plot ;P
Brief summary - Claire falls through time, and loses all her memories. The only clues she has to her past are vague and confusing dreams. On her path to discovering who she is, she falls in love with a young man helping her. But she can't stay in the past forever...what will happen when the time comes to go home?
Long summary -
Sylar catches Claire off guard one day, and attacks. She is rescued by Hiro appearing and attacking Sylar. However, in the ensuing struggle, Claire ends up caught in the crossfire, and thrown back in time, unconscious.
When she comes conscious, she has no memory of anything, and is greeted by a strange woman, who claims she knew Claire was coming, and provides her with a student ID and a few odds and ends. Completely freaked out, Claire bolts, crashing through a window. A window that happens to be five stories up. When her wounds somehow heal, she is terrified, and does the only thing she can think to do--run.
Her running finds her at the school the woman set her up at. She almost gets hit by a car, before she composes herself, and decides to go with the only thing she knows at the moment. While in class, she absently toys with her strange ability to heal, and is almost caught by the same person who nearly hit her.
After wandering through town, she finds a shelter, and checks into it, telling the matron that she cannot remember anything at all of her past, and needs somewhere to stay until she can remember something.
That night she dreams of hazy smiles, and a happy family, and of a ticking clock she.can't make out. She is distracted all class thinking about it, as her teacher goes into the regenerative factor of lizards.
Again, that night, she has strange, hazy dreams. Of friendly conversations and cheerleading. Hoping that it might be repressed memories, she tries out for the cheerleading squad--hoping to jog her memory. The head cheerleader rejects her try out, however, and she is stymied.
Determined to try, she attempts a cheerleading stunt on her own, and is once again, almost caught by the boy. During dinner, she reflects on a dream of fire, and then dreams of a boy. This time, she seeks out the strange boy following her, and engages him in conversation. He is amused by her change of attitude, and introduces himself as Nathan, before heading off to class.
She continues to dreams of strange things...another school, a young man, and a father. She begins to notice a trend of her dreams paralleling her reality, but no matter how many snippets she sees in her dreams, they always fade away when she reaches for them.
After another confrontation with the head cheerleader, she can't take the confusion and frustration anymore, and admits her lack of memory and her strange ability to the boy who has become a friend.
He responds by revealing his own ability to her--flight. As the months go on, she continues to dream her strange dreams, and remember bits and pieces with his help, falling fast in love for the one stable thing in her life.
Finally, Nathan tells her, that the only way she's going to be able to live on is to let go of the past, and everything else, and live for the moment. She takes the metaphorical and literal leap, letting go, and falling into him.
The dreams fade, and she and Nathan become even closer. One day, however, a strange man that looks familiar to Claire appears. He explains that he accidentally sent her back twenty-three years when he tried to send her back twenty-three hours. He says she must come back with him, because time will brak if she doesn't.
She doesn't want to leave the life she's finally made for herself, but Nathan tells her that it's the right thing to do--and that he'd see her when she got there, forcing a smile.
Once she is returned home, her memory quickly returns, and she is caught up in the quest to save New York. She does not forget her trip through time, however, but knows better than to think that the young man would still remember her. After all, for him it has been twenty-three years.
However, when she goes to visit her friend, Peter, she runs into a familiar face. The woman who originally met her in the past, and caused her to end up in the school she met the young man in. Intent on getting answers from her, she approaches the woman.
When she walks into the room, however, someone else recognizes her. Stunned that to see the woman from his past standing there, completely unchanged, he is rendered speechless for a few moments.
The woman, Angela explains that she had seen this all from the start, and reintroduces the two. Twenty three years of waiting, and there simply aren't enough words to say. It was one promise that Nathan Petrelli kept.

So. Yeah. This needed to be like, two vids, but there was no way I was finding TWO songs for it. One was hard enough. As it is, this begs a sequel, because there is so much more that can be resolved...but I don't think I'm the one to do it.
