Landslide, or Mudslide? (22 review)

K, I haven't written a reaction post since One Giant Leap, but yeah, this one (and generally the whole show since the return from hiatus) needs a review not full of *flail*, soo...

Yeah, this is not flail-y, in fact it is a little rant-y, so, fair warning. I was disappointed.

Lets start it off, I'm replaying the episode by memory, cause I don't have it on tape or anything.

Peter getting ahold of himself was expected because....previews, would end the series an episode early, and all the future stuff says the explosion is November 8th, not 7th. Still, why wasn't Claire going to wait until he went into meltdown mode? Till then it'd only do more damage than good.

A village with 15 people? Good idea, Peter and Ted should stay away from NYC. Like. Forever. I just knew they were gonna pan out to show an eavesdropping!Sylar. Plot needs.

Right.

Seriously, people, at least...bury or clean Isaac up a bit, if you're not gonna call the cops. Its so degrading, man. Finally a character recognizes the symbol! (Ando, of course, given that he noticed it originally on the sword, too.) Hiro totally should have left the phone to Ando, the hero speeches scare people away.

And Ando....STOP whining about how you're going to die, would you? There's more at stake.

Peter overhearing Sylar's thoughts was awesome, but leaving the populated area and hanging out for like an hour? Really stupid. Especially considering he'd just heard Sylar say he was going to use Ted's fugitive status to get Ted. But then again, that's just one logic gap in many on the path to whenever Sylar kills someone.

Sylar must have an aura of stupidity he activates when he starts hunting someone.

Poor Nathan, poor Hiro. Nathan's not a bad man, he's trapped into doing what he does--and he truly doesn't believe that the bomb can be stopped. Can you really blame him? He is the ultimate pragmatist, and it seems like every single person from the previous generation not only had a power and worked with Linderman, but wants the bomb to go off. (Maybe not Kaito.)

I cringed when Hiro showed the guy the blade--wouldn't that be reported as stolen by now?

Okay. 'Nother gap in logic to do with Ted and Sylar's quest. Why dfid Peter abandon Ted when he knew already what Sylar's plan was? Why didn't he hear the FBI/SWAT planning their attack as they drove up? Why didn't he grab Ted as well as Claire? Why didn't he knock them all away with TK and fly away? Why didn't he do something other than panic and run--abandoning Ted ?

Oh, Audrey, I missed you, too. Isaac Mendez has to be semi well known, as he made all those Ninth Wonders comics, funny how no one recognizes his name. And Audrey didn't reconize Sylar. Tsk tsk.

"Didn't I throw you out a window?" Second best line of the episode. Possibly one of the best of the series. I am full of squee at the idea that the Heroes are finally converging--I've waited since Genesis. I am still sad that no one is willing to wear costumes.

The Takeo death story worries me. They wouldn't dare kill Hiro, would they? And Hiro isn't Hiro without Ando--stupid as Ando can be (He....usually means well!)

Ten bucks says tthe overweight black lady is Candice's true form. Considering that she's probably gonna die soon, I don't mind much, really. Candice can try and be a good guy all she wants--I still hate her.

Ahh....Ted vs Sylar. The epitome of a writer deciding Ted must die, and not caring how it happens. Seriously, I was screaming at the TV the whole time and throughout the commercial break at how stupid it was. Peter never came back for Ted, Ted didn't even try to escape the truck...

And...

Oh my god, I cannot, and will never believe that Ted would hang there and cry when the truck crashed and Sylar appeared. Okay, MAYBE he didn't know what Sylar looks like, maybe Peter spent that time and didn't bother to mention he was telekinetic, and MAYBE he somehow didn't mention "Oh yea....he wants your brains, Ted. THought you should know."

Maybe Ted was hoping Peter or someone similar was ther eto rescue him (Though Sylar did not act like anyone) but he SHOULD have powered up as soon as it rolled, melted the handcuffs and everything--SCREW being injured! He was conscious, wasn't he?

And given if SOMEHOW he didn't do anything until Sylar was SLOWLY SAWING OPEN HIS FRIGGEN HEAD, why didn't he explode THEN?! HE JUST EFFING SCREAMED LIKE A HELPLESS INNOCENT! At ANY time during that he could have let loose, and Sylar can't stop a radioactive blast with telekinesis--radioactivity isn't solid enough. He might be able to stop the initial blast, but the radioativity? Nooo.

Even Peter collected himself, and Ted's quite a bit tougher than him. I knew Ted had to die, but I'd hoped for a damn fight. Geez. Sylar's sooooooo powerful, sooooooooo scary, and sooooo smart, no one but Peter or Hiro can save us! *Waifly gasp*

I'm shaking. God, man. Can't we have some realism amidst the wholesale slaughter? I get Peter's set up to be Sylar's rival, and that only Hiro can stop the future (which, yeah, not so sure he will.)

BUT OTHER PEOPLE CAN AT LEAST GO DOWN FIGHTING, YO.

And, no, he never did anything. When they later showed his body, nothing around him was damaged or even scorched.

Yeah. I'm sticking with Sylar having an aura of asinine. It's the only way I'm gonna survive the finale without ripping my hair out.

Matt using his powers for something not accidental/walking lie detector/evil interrogation? Awesomez. Also, "What am I thinking now?" "Your last thought" THE best of the episode right there.

Linderman bribing Jessica to kill DL? Come on, now, stop ruining my respect for you. Of course she's not gonna. Even if she would kill DL, she'd never abandon Micah.

Soon as he shot DL I knew he was gonna die. Not so certain DL will die yet, though.

Also, here's a question. Is his power a manifestation of his willpower, or permanent? We'll see if Heidi can still walk next episode. I kept expecting Nathan to pull her out of the chair nonchalantly. (Heidi was ALOT prettier and less unnerving to look at this episode.)

I believe HRG about not knowing it was a girl, but I also know he will kill a child if it means Claire's life. Still, I don't think it will come to that.

What's Sylar waitig for with the exposion?

I hope Peter and Audrey both feel as stupid as they are right about now.

Ando is either being really stupid because he's scared to diem or really stupid due to his dormant heroic side. Either way, reading that comic is making him cause the future. (Which, interestingly enough is always the case. They see the painting, they make it happen. Except when Isaac makes things that are happening RIGHT NOW. This does not bode well for New York.)

I really don't think they are stopping the bomb. I pray that Jessica kills Candice before Sylar finds her. And Molly. Her or Sylar must die. Any useful but defenseless power has to be dealt with, its the only way to slow Sylar down.

But.

What with the aura of asinine, that might not matter anyway.

Yeah. I wonder if the bomb is both of them. Then Nathan wouldn't be lying, just not speaking the whole truth of the matter.

Right, that's just about it, guys. I might edit to add if I remember anything else to say.

Yeah, I watch the show for the plot, not the hot, I like Nathan, I don't like Sylar, and I think the weaker-but-useful powers have to be killed off before Sylar gets to them. Odd, huh? ;p

Comments? Flames? Honestly, fire away!
