me either, its just a theory.
it just made sense to me as an explanation to the situations I usually find myself in.
I'm also not saying this is universal, but from experience it is hard to jump from the friends ladder to be something more than a friend to a woman, and you run the risk of falling into what in this article is called 'the abyss'.

and another thing that struck me as unfortunately true is that women see the qualities and rank on the 'friends' ladder as inversely proportional to the qualities and rank on the potential sexual partners or 'potential' ladder.
the qualities deemed desirable in a friend often appear very different from those considered attractive in a sexual partner.

please prove me wrong :]
