Inaugural Post

So I've finally decided to do some posting!  This should be exciting right?

Welp, anyway, future posts (should) contain tech stuff and doujin scanlations...honestly though there will probably be rants sprinkled in here and there for flavor.

Okay, commenting here because I started at the top and read down, and I'm too lazy to scroll back to the top.
FYI, I love you two! Vix explains Japanese in a way that makes it comprehensible to me, and you do the same for tech. And anyone who can stick stuff into my brain and make it fit properly has some mad 'splainin' skillz.
Also, having dedicated over 100 hours to FFXIII, I can completely understand the frustration of losing your game saves. Actually, after reading one of Vixen's posts, I went home and backed up my save file onto another drive. I know it's possible to recover the data, but I'd rather do it the easy way. ;-}
And lastly, I'm looking forward to the dj scans, tech stuff, and the rants. Dennis Miller made rants-done-right hip and entertaining, and they've never ceased to be so.

Ugh, backing up saves is something I wish I had done a lot sooner. My mass effect saves went in to the 80-100 hour range too and I thought I'd lost those as well, but looks like I can recover them too!

Truly my greatest fear is the time when the capacitor in my ps2 memory cards finally die and I lose all my ps2 saves >.> (pretty sure this has already happened with my original NES cartridges)

Still looking for a compelling ps2 backup solution that doesn't involve a mod chip, or copying to a new ps2 memory card (how is it possible that they have gotten MORE expensive since the last time I bought one?).

PS: Nice to finally "meet" you, vixen talks a lot about you ;) (nothing bad, I promise!)

Heading off to bed, but I stopped to check my mail, saw this, and had a thought.
I have a PS3 and an adapter that lets me transfer saved games from PS2 memory cards onto my PS3 hard drive. I've never tried backing those up on a thumb drive, but I don't see why it couldn't be done. Admittedly, you would still eventually need to transfer them to new cards to access the data, but at least you would have a backup of the data. I have so much saved in digital form on various drives that I worry too much about data loss. I told my husband that if our house is ever on fire, the first things he should grab are the backup drives. Then he should yell for the kids and the cats...
Hmm... I don't know whether I should be relieved or mildly offended by the lack of bad press. Oh, well. I've come to accept the fact that I'm not as bad as I once liked to think I was. =]

The way I look at it with the backup and the kids and the cats. Kids and cats can sense fire and know well enough to run away. The poor backups can't fend for themselves! think of the backups!

And don't worry, you could very well be a terrible person just like vixen and I, but the bar is so skewed that it's really hard for me to tell what is "normal" anymore...but if you have a 60 gig ps3 you definitely don't have to worry, you're definitely a terrible person. Waited 2 years to see if they'd bring back backward compatibility with the ps2 :(
