I had posted this a long while back, was bored and tagging entries, found it and reposted because a friend and I have been talking about the end of the Mayan calendar's cycle (12-21-2012). I didn't reread the article, and I have an oboe lesson in a few minutes. I wonder why people continually post anonymous comments, but okay.
Basically, all I feel is that humanity isn't respecting nature and the earth and the delicate system that allows us to live our lives. And we need to take care of it before it collapses on us and all goes to hell in a handbasket. I suppose the article would be better used for inspiration to help out or to provoke some conversation and deep thinking about our situation. And I agree, that small steps are good and DO do something. He claims that recycling is petty, but I disagree there, for example.
I just want to get people thinking, and keep it in the forefront of our minds because it isn't something that we can forget about--it affects everyone. And I know that I don't do much of anything, but I want to keep reminding myself that I'm a part of this and I need to think about it too. We can't let the lives we lead distract us from the bigger picture that involves ALL of us and more than what we know.
I apologize if you think that I fully agreed with the article and that I didn't really say much about how I felt. And btw, I adore that quote--always have :) Thanks for your input, whoeveryouare!
