Yesterday evening was very interesting. Most had given their costumes more thought and work than I would've expected for such an event. Some were more... ingenious than others.

Mike had a truly extraordinary costume. The amount and quality of spell work he must've used to obtain such effects impresses me. A true Ravenclaw. He seemed to have an interesting evening. Perhaps I should compare notes with Malfoy?

Dean Thomas is so very easy to corner. What is it with Gryffindors and their misplaced - and often short-lived - valour, that they have to challenge those clearly stronger than themselves? He knows his place now, I should presume. Even so, there's still unfinished business in the form of the Irish mudblood slut. He will not stay much longer here.

William's costume was... far too enticing to resist. I'm still confused about my own reactions and to some degree his behaviour. This was not something I had expected. I will need some time to think it through. The only thing I'm sure of, is that I enjoyed it. More than I should've.

All in all a fascinating way to spend your birthday.

I received part of my present from home this morning. A new set of Eagle feather quills. The other part is a new book, which will have to stay home. Father didn't elaborate on the content, which makes me suspect it concerns dark magic.

Fencing this morning was very challenging and giving. I was several times pushed to my limit, which is my preferred type of training. If you don't push yourself, you don't learn anything.

The tournament will become extremely interesting, at least in one category.

I suppose the rest of my weekend will consist of more training and homework.
