Something worthy of a post.
What is this world coming to? The teens connected with the murder of Luis Ramirez Zavala needed to be brought up on proper charges. Yet no, they got away with only simple assault. This is an outrage. Do I think there were a lot of factors that played into such a weak trial? yes. This person was an illegal immigrant, yes. However an American History X style curb stomping deserves something more than measly simple assault charges. This is still another human life taken away. Do I think that the fact that the kids were varsity sports players had another effect on why there was such a craptastic prosecution case? Hell yes. This is sending such a clear message to the youth of our society. Take out someone who is not here legally and we will go easy on you when your day comes in court. Oh yeah and it will take a long ass time for you to have your day in court to boot. The clear and present racism that exists in this area is disgusting and appalling. After this murder happened there were anti-Hispanic rallies all around. Do I think that people who are here need to be here legally, yes of course. Do I think that they should be expected to learn the language within a reasonable amount of time just as we would have to do in their country? Yes, of course. Do I think this is just cause for murder and racism? Abosofreakinglutely not. These children know what they did that night and they will have to live with the guilt and the horror for the rest of their lives. One can only hope they don't reproduce and if they are so unlucky as to have kids, I can only hope their kids learn about this incident and ask what happened so they can choke on their actions one night.
