It's been a ridiculously busy couple of weeks (illness induced laziness aside). About the only good thing that came out of my being sick all last week was that I was able to make some phone calls regarding reunion stuff (OMG THAT'S IN THREE WEEKS!!!). This week was absolute craziness, I didn't know if I was coming or going. Having passed the June 1st mark, the students are officially insane, which is not helpful since we have these big animal projects we have to get done for Wednesday's Grandparents' Day and Thursday's Zoo Night, plus June ELA Core testing and just general end of the year stuff. At some point I have to sit down and do my APPR so I can meet with Roseann. Looks like I will not be doing the inclusion room next year - Gale had volunteered a while back but we'd never discussed it at a grade level meeting so I just found out yesterday that I wasn't doing inclusion. I'd just assumed up to that point. Not that it's a problem or anything - I have no problem doing inclusion or regular ed, it was one of those, "Oh, okay!" kind of things. The next two and a half weeks are going to be very hectic. After Zoo Night, we are going to be in "room tear down" mode. Anything they don't need, I'm taking down, sending home, or putting away. It'll make my life so much easier those last couple days so I can just concentrate on doing ELA reports and student folders and report cards. I just hope I stay in the same room next year - I really don't want to pack up and move, especially this summer. I want to just be able to come back from my honeymoon, spend a week getting settled in to my new home (which'll feel weird, I think, at first), go to Aaron's family reunion, and then spend August leisurely preparing for the start of the new school year. If I could figure out a way to store all the students' books and folders and things that would normally go into their desks, I'd be all over asking for tables instead. I do miss having tables, and tables don't allow them to play in their desks and steal each other's pencils (because I'd do shared materials in that instance, or something of that nature).
Tuesday I went to have Linda play with my hair. She tried a very pretty
hairstyle but after I looked at the pictures we took I decided I didn't like it after all.... it was too... poofy and.... formal... and otherwise not me. I found a really pretty half up-half down style that I think I like better. So after an hour of work I'm going to go in and be like, "Guess what, Linda! Totally changed my mind!" She was going to take off 5 inches as well because my hair is actually too long now to put up, so with the up-down do I don't know if she'll still want to do that... I may still want to though....
Then on Thursday we went to Cakes Galore and I picked out my cake. It's very pretty but not too fancy. And it will be yummy. I just hope people start RSVPing in droves, or we're going to have lots of cake leftover. We ordered cake for 130 people, but as of today only about half of those invited have said they're coming. We had a feeling it was going to be a small wedding but we didn't think it was going to be as small as it's turning out to be. Just hope people get up and dance!
And to top everything off, I woke up this morning with sniffles and a sore throat!
