Wow, I've been derelict in my updating lately. Guess it's just been so busy I haven't had much time to get my thoughts in order and down.
The end of school went well, the last week was really fun. Because I'm moving into Barb Mosny's room for next year, I had to take down all my stuff and pack things up. I got a little sad doing it, because I was like, "Oh, my first year is all over and my kids are all going to first grade." *sniff* Well, I'm keeping one back with me for next year, but other than that, they're all going up to first grade next year, so that was a pretty good showing, considering how low and needy they were at the beginning of the year. I just hope the ones I recommended for summer school actually go.
The week after school got out, I went to a Reading First conference for kindergarten teachers. That was a fun day - interesting, though we didn't keep to the agenda and the afternoon was just a repetition of the morning's work. It was good to get to know Emily and Cayla a little better too. Then the next day we had a training day for the Everyday Math program, which we're adopting for K and 1 next year. It's goign to be a lot of work, especially this coming year with all the prep work (supposedly it's easier after that because everything is together), but I think it's goign to be an excellent math program.
Two Fridays ago, Kellye got married! It was a very nice wedding, they had the reception at the Foundry. Guess who finally caught the bouquet? Moi. I just snatched it right out the air!
Last weekend, Aaron and I went up to Henderson Harbor, where there's a little nature preserve-ish state park. We hiked around a little bit, then went to Jim and Edna's camp to meet up with them and their kids, who were up visiting, and ended up going to the Oswego County Fair in Sandy Creek. Then we hung out at their camp till really late, and had a bonfire on the lake and cooked lots of food and had a good time. Sunday night we went to Breitbeck for the 4th of July fireworks, which were alright but not comparable to the Harborfest fireworks, as usual.
Last week I kinda slugged around quite a bit, but this weekend Aaron and I went down to Schuylerville to visit Sue and Dave. I haven't seen them in so long, it was great to visit. We went down on Friday night, and on Saturday we drove down to RPI, and then to the
Grafton Peace Pagoda. We then went around through Bennington, Vermont, then back to Schuylerville. Yesterday morning, we all went strawberry picking, and before leaving, Aaron and I went to the Saratoga battlefield, which was really interesting, and I need to study the American Revolution much more in depth.
This week should be busy and fun. Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jimmy are coming up today, with Jesse, for a few days, and my class starts tomorrow. Still haven't gotten in to see Dr. Putala about my program, but hopefully that'll happen this week as well, since we have to figure out what to do about the three LIT courses I already took.
Time to eat and take care of some stuff, so I can go swimming.
