Starting to get super excited! The last bit of travel planning was taken care of, the train to and from Taormina. We're taking the early train from Rome to Taormina, leaves at 7:45am, but it'll be great to see the Italian countryside (whipping by) during the day, and we'll get into Taormina early enough to check in, clean up, and have dinner and enjoy a bit of the city at night. Temperatures have been in the upper 50s and low 60s there the past couple weeks, so it should be nice and mild for our trip, provided averages hold up.
This week has been long, mainly because we've missed so much school because of the snow already. I'm sick of being at home, though I've gotten a lot of things done that needed doing. Got a haircut Tuesday morning, about 8 inches off in back and angled up to my chin in front. It's maybe a tad shorter than is ideal (though don't get me wrong at all, I like it, it's a cute cut), but I figure it'll be just about the perfect length when we go to Italy.
Sue and Ange were in town this week, Ange at the beginning and Sue at the end. Ange and I wanted to get people together Saturday night for Cosmic Bowling, but they didn't have any lanes available. So we all went Sunday afternoon instead. It was fun, Dan actually socialized *gasp* for the first time in like 2 years. Tuesday Sue got in, so I went over to Ange's dad's house to hang out with them, as they were both staying there. We stayed up way past our bedtimes catching up on all sorts of stuff, it was a good time. Yesterday Sue and I popped up to the mall for the afternoon. I found a book in Borders that's specific to Rome from Frommers, it's pretty inclusive and has good tips, plus a much better map of Rome. We got hungry and went to Olive Garden for a light early dinner (mmmm, breadsticks) and then scooted over to Great Northern so I could use my $10 off card at Vickie's (the store at Carousel didn't have anything I liked). I found something really cute there, and for $10 less, it was worth it.
Tonight I'm cooking cheese enchiladas. It's out of my Betty Crocker Cook Book, so I think it'll be pretty yummy. So far all the recipes I've tried out of there have been good. I have so many recipes I want to try. I should learn how to cook fish. I also think I need to learn how to cook scallops, cuz Aaron likes them. After dinner I'm treating Aaron to "Bridge to Terabithia" since he gave in to my wanting to see "Music and Lyrics" last weekend, and I promised him. Tomorrow night we're going to the SUNYAC semi-final game against Fredonia - apparently Oswego got a first seed in the conference.
Turned in my application for the literacy program as well. Hopefully I'll be able to take most of my classes during the summer, though there's a seminar class that's only offered fall and spring semesters. I also have to basically re-take the new version of what was Project SAVE (safe schools initiative thing), so that'll be a little sucky, but it's done online now so I don't have to sit through another mind-numbingly boring training session like before.
I have to cut out watermelon seeds for my art center next week, and then I think I might do a little pilates or yoga. I'm getting squishy again.
