The Duke - Gaelen Foley (Comments)

A few weeks ago I asked the members of romancenovels their opinion on Christine Feehan and many of them suggested I try a different author. I just selected my next "obsession" and wanted to let you all know who it was and what I thought of the first book (spoilers)...

BOOK: The Duke
AUTHOR: Gaelen Foley
RECOMMENDED BY: etarowyn (author recommendation)

COMMENTS:I had the good luck to find the first book of the Knight series in a used book store so I purchased it.

I was rather intrigued by the thought of the heroine being a courtesan and how the hero would handle her "occupation."

Robert "Hawk" Knight, the Duke of Hawkscliffe is an admirable and lonely character, my heart went out to him immediately (And then I realized how dashing and handsome he was) because he was in love with his friend's wife but never acted upon it.

Belinda Hamilton. How many women found themselves in her position for the same reasons but never had a chance at happiness? Even with everything that had happened to her she was still a strong character with her own mind and a kind heart.

For awhile there I did hold my breath when Hawk told Bel that he was going to marry Coldfell's daughter all for the sake of his title. I hated him for awhile for being so selfish as to want Bel to lower herself even more by breaking her one rule (never choose a protector who's married), but at the same time I understood his problem. All in all it was a good book, the only disappointing part was finding out that Lucy's death was in a way self defense and not downright murder with the killer looking to make Bel his next victim. Oh well, can't have everything right?

Now I'm off to start Lord of Fire and hopefully will have Lord of Ice so I can continue to read the series in order (for once). I have a feeling I'll love Jack the best;) Plus Eden sounds like a real spitfire.

Thanks again to everyone who suggested authors, after I read all of Gaelen's books I will select another author from all your suggestions.

And yes I am well aware that Her Every Pleasure is being released tomorrow (TARGET HERE I COME!). I'm going to buy it and then ask someone to hide it from me until I read all the others first.
