Update time! There is a locked entry that goes up soon as well, so log in in about 10 minutes after posting.
Went to see JET, an Australian rock band, in Brixton on Wednesday. Brixton was less of a shithole than I expected it to be, rather suprising actually and didn't look all too far off from Kingston or Croydon. I had pictures in my head of a place with graffiti everywhere, hoodies swamping the pavement and burnt out cars in front of smashed shop windows. It was nothing like that, actually tidier than some places I live close to. Unfortunately JET was shit, rubbish support bands and a rather rubbish headline performance. The beer was also terrible ice cold watered down lager. NEVER EVER EVER buy beer off the tap at a live music venue, EVER! Especially if you are like me and have a taste for bitter and ale. The bottled stuff is OK though (obviously plastic bottles though). We walked out halfway through though and had plenty of fun in The Goose drinking a pint of Greene King.
Amazingly, I went back to London soon after! This time a roam around the tourist swamped Leicester Square after another jaunt on the Tube and a visit to Camden Town and the Market. I was expecting it to be nicer, but it turns out this place is a shithole of London. People smoking drugs everywhere, a friend saying "Keep hold you your wallet and I mean keep hold of it!" and people trying to bump into you. Two add two tells you all, but the same seemed to happen in Brixton. Round my area, people tend to ddoge round others, in these places people seem to make a beeline for you! Anyway, the market was a bit cack and I really wasn't keen on Camden. That said, there was a nice pub called the Spread Eagle and a shop called Metal Militia that sells all manner of cool Metal clothing. No Rage Against the Machine or Audioslave stuff though. Another odd thing was seeing a freight train pass through a Tube station. Yes you read right, thing with a load of trailers filled with all manner of rubble and other crap passing through on a passenger line. Double take moment for sure.
Finally, I went to see my grandfather who has Motor Neurones today in the hospice. Apparently he is now staying in there until he dies as his breathing is affected badly. Uses a breathing machine occasionally now and feeling sleepy, and when not on the machine he struggles for breath. Doctors give him an imminent demise basically and any hope of him seeing Christmas has gone out the window.
On a final note, and rather ad hoc, cats cannot get through a door at the same time as an electric wheelchair as my mother jsut found out. In order to get through one has to give and typically it's the wheelchair. Sneaky furry bastard that cat!
