Fruitthe skin spintered apart like fish scales,
with a shining powder rubbing off on hands,
its innards shining and crisp with juices,
revealing plumped and sectioned flesh
to whet the mouth refreshingly.
the pips softer than bone
but no less undesiring,
are spit onto the discarded skin,
which clung to air in sweet and tart,
and would mellow in a day.
thirst and hunger quenched,
hands sticky with bitter rind and juiced pips,
lips plumped to red by each chew,
breath slowed to sour air by sugar,
tongue to taste the sweetness between teeth.
1410ish? to 1419 Friday, March 16, 2012... yes. I was eating a mandarin thing with really hard skin at work.
