The long weekend was so short...far too short.

Friday, we took care of some very necessary tasks like taxes, car inspection, grocery store, etc. We also had sebastian_cat over for dinner and the first episode of the new season of Dr. Who. We had garlic & herb chik'n cutlets, angel hair pasta with herbs (tastes a little rosemary-ish), and spinach! We loves the spinach. I made a white cake for dessert with vanilla icing and sprinkles. Very well-received.

Saturday, it was suddenly cold and rainy. We bundled up and headed out to the hospital, but my father-in-law was sleeping, so we went to run our errands which consisted of Academy for some long-sleeved denim shirts that don't seem to exist anymore, a run to Petsmart for some fishy items, a trip around the mall for previously mentioned shirts, then a return trip to the hospital to see Gus' father, who had awakened. We made it home about 7.30 or 8.00, and ordered in. There's a great Italian place across the street that delivers. They always say 30-45 minutes, but our food usually gets there in 15.

Sunday was more running around. Laundry and grocery took so long that we had to forgo our trip to Petsmart to purchase our new little aquatic friends, but since we were going to have dinner with my family, we thought we might as well try out Wal*Mart's fish. Dinner was nice, and we left a tad earlier than usual because we were beat. We stopped for the fish just to see what there was and the health of them. They looked perky, and there was a guy already there waiting to help people, so we got two orange glo-light tetras, two blue and red neon tetras, and a fiddler crab.

We made it home and put them in their new tank. Most of them were alright, but one of the orange guys got a little energetic and propelled himself out of the tank! He hit the wall and fell on the carpet, flipping around. I hurriedly picked him up, dusted him off, and popped him back into the water. I had never seen anything like it! We observed them to make sure he wouldn't try any other tricks, then we went to shower and get things ready for Monday.

Out of the shower about 20 minutes later, I discovered a tank of dead fish. I guess the stress was too much for them to handle. They looked lively when we picked them out. The crab is fine, but the others are gone. Poor little guys. We'll give it a few days, and probably go to Petsmart. I've always had better luck with moors. And I kept my beta alive a little over a year.
