"Not everything is at it seems. The original goals might not be what they're really after." The gray one lowers his head with a sigh. Everything used to be so simple. So cut and dry. "All cats are gray in the dark." He finally says as the snow falls thick enough to blanket everyone in a layer of gray. The scenery begin to melt as if everything is sliding down hill. The colors remain in the same shades before but it all changes. People disappear until there's nothing, then the landscape is repainted.

-

You're underground up to your waist in water. The ruined remains of columns dot and litter the area as the gray figure appears. He's different from before, not yet the tall knight he will be in a year to come. His form is cracked as he faces off with a faceless white pawn. Yet because this is a dream you can see within the white pawn someone is trapped and their voice to you is as clear as day.

"You're here for us right?!"

The gray clown only smiles and nods. This is what he exists for. Only this. The pawn glares at him and snarls. "What are you?!"

The gray one's reply is silent, but if you can read lips - 'I'm an Exorcist.'

It's hard to adjust from the blurring, melting scene to sudden tepid water. Horst quickly steps back, seeking some kind of shelter in case there's about to be a fight. As much as he'd like to be of help, he has no idea how, or if he even could.

He watches the Clown, though, trying to remember the lost, almost defeated feel from the previous scene.

The scene has a freshness to it. Like the dawn, the feel of this memory is hopeful and bold. It cuts through the darkness of the night and heralds a new day. The clown dodges the pawn's movements until he cracks and plunges towards the water. He seems delicate as if he'll break apart at the slightest touch. The cracks spread yet the relaxed smile never fades. He's found his place at last.

"Wait!" Horst doesn't want to see him fall apart, but he can do nothing but watch. He twists to look at the pawn.

The pawn is rushing forwards to smash the clown to bits. As the gray one hits the water with a splash the pawn brings up an arm and lifts a heavy foot. Time seems to slow down, inviting Horst to affect the outcome. One of the clown's hands is still above the surface with fingers outstretched toward the ceiling above their heads. There's one chance, whether he takes it or not, will decide what he sees next.

Horst leaps in the way, he's strong enough to push a train off its tracks if he wanted and he estimates he'll be more than strong enough to stop the pawn and save the clown. Although he's tackling the pawn, he reaches a hand to the clown, desperate to stop it from going under.

The clown slips beneath the water despite Horst's best efforts. Only one arm remains above the water with cracks and fractures marring what should have been a perfect arm. The pawn crashes back and skids on the water but it isn't defeated. It raises its arm up fires a beam at the vampire. If it hit shim, it will feel like he's breaking apart like a marble statue.

Horst dives into the water, seeking to avoid the beam and also to find the clown. He doesn't need to breathe and he won't become hypothermic, but he can't open his eyes in the water. He continues swimming, reaching out.
