New Orleans

Nov 17, 2005 11:05

I leave tomorrow at 5 AM for New Orleans. My estimated return date is the 9th of December. Of course, that could change. In the meantime, I wish you all well. Have a great Thanksgiving. I'll be gone, but I know that I can come home to a home and my family and friends. The people I am going to help can't go home because they are there already. That really puts it in perspective for me.

And finally, I encourage you to help. If you can, donate money or goods. But your time is extremely valuable as well. I'm talking about more than just the Red Cross and the Hurricane Relief efforts. I'm talking about our community. Volunteer your time, please. You won't regret it. And someday, you might need help. Just think about it. Please. There are so many people in need. Please help. And if you're interested in the Red Cross, it is located at 3131 N Vancouver Avenue, Portland, OR 97227. Go talk to Scott Etlinger in Emergency Services and tell him Talena sent you. They always need help. It'as not glamourous or heroic, but it helps. The Red Cross has helped so many people, but they're in the red. This series of disasters is really taxing their resources. Please help.
