Oh, I can see it and I'm very happy for you in that respect. Even if you were single, I'd probably force myself to keep a professional distance from you.

I'm also very good at keeping an aloof appearance, but it's mostly for show. I'm often lonely.

Well, I lost my mother when I was very young due to an accident, the same one that resulted in my appearance. Since then, women I've found myself attracted to have either already been taken or circumstances arise where we can't be together.

You sound like my friend Tosh, you should meet her. I think you'd get on and your bad luck with relationships might cancel each other out.

Ah, Toshiko. I've met her before. I did the procedure to implant that mechanical interface device into her brain.

Right. I forgot about that because the infirmary bit of my brain has been filled with politicking and stupidity for too long.

I miss just being a doctor when I didn't need to worry about if someone was going to be a complete wanker to me.

I certainly agree with your husband's remarks about you not being appreciated by many of the people here and I regret being so introverted because I wanted to stand up for you but felt I didn't really have much to contribute since I'm so new to the Barge.

Of course you have a lot to contribute! Everyone has something to contribute! You shouldn't be frightened to share your ideas because you're new.
