Dude, dreamweaver isn't very techie at all. It's a pointy-clicky-draggy-droppy kind of website design tool specifically for people who don't want to be writing all the HTML code themselves, it'll be fine ;-)
Nope, I've never used it. I'm a techie kind of person who likes writing my webpages by hand with nothing more sophisticated than notepad.
Our project admin uses Dreamweaver though, and she's not a techie, and she finds it quite friendly. You'll be fine!
Other important thing to remember: you don't have to know it all yourself. All web developers start out by looking at the source code for other peoples sites and copying-and-pasting bits.

Also, have you seen the "Dreamweaver 8 Bible" ? It is bigger than my head. ^_^
