Damon's Tortorous Past is Revealed on VD!! (My 5x09 Thoughts)

Synopsis: FLASHBACKS TO A DARK TIME IN DAMON’S LIFE - Stefan (Paul Wesley) continues to offer Katherine (Nina Dobrev) his support while trying to mask his own pain, until Caroline (Candice Accola) shows up with an unusual form of therapy. After trying to make amends with Caroline, Elena (Nina Dobrev) grows so concerned about Damon (Ian Somerhald er) that she turns to Aaron (guest star Shaun Sipos) for help. Later, when Damon tells Elena about a te rrible ordeal in his past that he has kept secret for decades, she shares the disturbing information she just learned about her own family. Finally, Aaron decides on a desperate course of action after a conversation with Dr. Wes Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett).
My Pre-Episode Thought:
When it comes to dealing with his PTSD, Stefan should listen to Katherine over Caroline since the former has actually dealt with her own PTSD while the latter hast read psychological textbooks (therefore no experience on her part) -_-.
I think that Elena may discover that her father Grayson was part of the Augustine Society (and quite possibly other Gilbert ancestors of hers).
And once again, I still can't believe that Damon was an Augustine lab rat. I mean sure, I could understand it more if Damon was new to the vampire life but if this happened in the 1950s, then Damon has been a vampire for just over 80 years so how in the world could he have gotten himself caught, contained and caged? Before Mystic Falls, Damon just seemed like a vampire that wouldn't settle for humans being superior over him (much like how Klaus handled the human faction in TO 1x09).

**Alright I really need to say this! Isn't Caroline supposed to be ELENA's friend instead of befriending the ex-boyfriend and siding with him after the breakup? It isn't Caroline's business who Elena is involved with because as her friend, Caroline should want Elena to be happy and she is happy with Damon! End of story! Otherwise I'd think Caroline was trying to move in on Elena's ex (Stefan). I personally think that Caroline still hates Damon for what he did to her when she was human and that hatred is clouding her ability to see that Damon is different around Elena.
- Stefan changes the subject by bringing the conversation back to his PTSD
- "What do you know about PTSD?" -Stefan

- Aaron punches Dr. Wes
- WOOT!!
- Aaron heads to the safe, grabs a gun and walks away (taking the watch with him)

I gotta say that even though the flashbacks were tortorous for Damon, it was great to see that we got to learn more of his history. Let's just hope that Elena doesn't go back on her word (although after learning that Damon had killed while they were together may be a problem). Although if Elena does get tortured by Dr. Wes, maybe then she could understand why Damon will feel the need to continue his revenge on the Whitmore bloodline.
And I do like the development between Stefan/Katherine.
However I'm wondering why Bonnie, Jeremy and Matt weren't featured. I mean with Bonnie still on campus, she should have noticed that Elena had gone missing.

- Caroline waits outside the vault
- Stefan hyperventilates
- Katherine rants about her doppelganger theory

- Katherine conquers the real problem...Stefan's heartache over Elena leaving him

- Katherine tells Stefan to fight the urge to kill her
- "I'm here." - Katherine
- Stefan/Katherine move closer together
- Caroline opens the vault before Stefan/Katherine can kiss
- Damnit! So close!! I did love the connection between them though!
- Stefan gets out of the vault...he helps Katherine out
- Caroline asks how Stefan is
- Stefan smiles

- Stefan looks over to Katherine

- Aaron finds Elena and Damon...he's surprised about the basement
- Aaron pulls a gun on Elena and accuses her of the deaths in his life
- Damon reveals that he killed Aaron's parents
- Damon reveals that he had to do his revenge solo
- Damon's revenge was to kill every Whitmore so that only one was left to suffer the consequences
- Damon admits to killing Sarah in the summer on a weekend trip that Elena knew nothing about
- Elena can't believe that Damon killed while they were together
- "I told you it wasn't pretty." -Damon
- Aaron shoots Damon in the head
- "NO!" -Elena
- By her reaction, does that mean what she learned just know doesn't affect her feelings for Damon?
- Blood pools around Damon's head
- Was that a regular bullet or a wooden one?

- Caroline tries to move the vault on her own...she can't
- Caroline calls out for some help...no answers
Boarding House - Room #2
- Stefan cleans up the destruction in another room
- Katherine walks in
- Stefan confesses that Katherine was right about the root of his problem
(using physical pain to focus on instead of the emotional one)
- "To be honest with you, I never know what you're doing Katherine." -Stefan
"Sometimes I don't either." -Katherine
- Katherine gets closer to Stefan...she touches his chest
- Stefan/Katherine kiss
- WOOT!! I prefer this doppelganger pair!
Boarding House - Room #1
- Caroline leaves a message to Elena
- Caroline hears makeout noises from the other room...she's shocked
Whitmore House / Aaron's Room
- Aaron is on the phone with Dr. Wes
- Aaron is frantic about what the vampires will do next
- Dr. Wes tells Aaron to continue living his life
- Aaron hangs up and puts on the watch
Whitmore Cell
- Damon wakes up with a headache
- Damon is shocked to learn that Elena is gone
- He rushes and shouts for her
Lab
- Elena wakes up strapped to a metal table
- Elena is introduced to another strapped vampire...Enzo
- Elena is stunned
- I KNEW IT!!! I knew Enzo couldn't be dead!

Next week....Stefan uses Aaron to get to Dr. Wes for Elena (but what about Damon?)
I gotta say that even though the flashbacks were tortorous for Damon, it was great to see that we got to learn more of his history. Let's just hope that Elena doesn't go back on her word (although after learning that Damon had killed while they were together may be a problem). Although if Elena does get tortured by Dr. Wes, maybe then she could understand why Damon will feel the need to continue his revenge on the Whitmore bloodline.
And I do like the development between Stefan/Katherine.
However I'm wondering why Bonnie, Jeremy and Matt weren't featured. I mean with Bonnie still on campus, she should have noticed that Elena had gone missing.
