Reunions with Twisted Results on VD! (My 6x17 Thoughts)

Alright so here is a jotted recap of the episode with my initial thoughts included throughout and after the episode. I do it this way because my memory sucks when it comes to recalling things that don't revolve around my OTP for the series.

Synopsis: DAMON TRAVELS TO THE 1903 PRISON WORLD - With the help of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) set forth a plan to rescue Damon’s mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching), who is trapped in the 1903 prison world. Meanwhile, when Caroline's (Candice Accola) plan for Stefan (Paul Wesley) backfires, she is left to pick up the pieces. Elsewhere, back at Whitmore College, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Alaric’s (Matt Davis) attempt to reel Caroline back in doesn’t quite go as planned when they realize they’re outmaneuvered. Lastly, an unexpected gift from Bonnie leaves Damon shaken to his core.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR DAMON TO REUNITE WITH HIS MOTHER!!!! I truly can't wait for that.
And I'm still uncertain as to whether Stefan truly turned his humanity off or if he's pretending that he did.
And we finally get to see Alaric after his baby/engagement news that we learned in 6x15. Has he told anyone yet? Only Jo knows about both news (obviously) while Kai only knows about the baby news.

- When Bonnie ignores him, Kai violently reacts by grabbing her

- Bonnie isn't surprised to see Kai's old antics appearing

- Damon and Elena explain how they think Lily will be Stefan's emotional trigger
- Lily agrees to help

- Bonnie finished what Damon had started in 1994 (since his Nova Scotia notes suggested)
- Bonnie knows that Damon wanted that cure for Elena
- "What if I don't want it for her now?" -Damon
- Bonnie tells Damon that its not her decision to make

- Oh wow, the fans were right about the cure returning to the present day
- How will Damon give it to? Only Elena and Caroline can use it without aging rapidly like Katherine did.

I'm still shocked that Lily had 'travel companions' with her in that 1903 prison world. Will they pose a problem later?
I'm also very shocked that Bonnie left Kai in 1903. I definitely didn't think that was an option since he's the Gemini Coven leader now. What does that mean for the Coven with their leader in 'prison'?
Bonnie's gift to Damon was a surprise (I love the moment between them) because I didn't think they'd bring the cure back into it. I mean because of Katherine, they learned that the older vampires will just rapidly age if they take it so the only vampires on the show that would survive taking it would be Caroline and Elena (or Bonnie's mom). Yet what is the purpose of bringing this cure (plot device) back?
I also don't know how I feel about Stefan/Caroline hooking up. I mean as a Staroline fan, I'm all for it but it just seems like a cop-out since we needed both of their humanities off to get them to hook up. It somehow feels cheapened.
Alaric and Enzo teaming up! Finally we have that on screen. Even though they failed tonight against Stefan/Caroline, Alaric did get Enzo to rethink his revenge plan against Stefan. Plus is Enzo the only one outside of Alaric, Jo and Kai that know about Baby Saltzman that's on the way?

- Lily chokes on her tea

- Caroline drags Stefan away
- An athlete catches Caroline
- Stefan throws a stake at the athlete
- Caroline rushes to feed her blood to the athlete
- Stefan comments on how Caroline shouldn't be saving strangers
- Stefan attacks but Caroline knocks him away
- Caroline compels the athlete to run
- The athlete runs
- Stefan collides with Caroline and motions her to be quite
- Around the corner, Alaric and Enzo appear as they follow a trail
- Alaric notices a homemade bomb on the stairs ("Uh, Enzo?")

- Elena doesn't believe that Lily is crazy
- "She has a vampire dollhouse." -Damon
- Elena notices the 1903 relic on the table
- Elena wonders why Bonnie isn't here
- Damon tells Elena that Bonnie isn't looking for the relic

- Bonnie continues to lead Kai into the woods
- Kai wonders why the relic would be in the woods
- Kai takes the lead
- Bonnie stabs Kai in the back
- Kai collapses and pleads for his life
- Bonnie wants to kill Kai
- "I almost killed myself because of you." -Bonnie
- Bonnie stabs Kai...only to find him gone
- Was that the plan all along?

- Caroline checks over Enzo and Alaric (both are unconscious)
- Stefan gets ready to kill Alaric and Enzo
- Caroline grabs a shotgun and aims it at Stefan

- Stefan goes for the athlete again
- Caroline wonders what Stefan is up to
- "I taught you how to control your bloodlust remember?" -Stefan

- Damon tells Lily that they can't bring her traveling companions with them as they are one witch short
- Lily is stunned
- Bonnie arrives and asks for the relic
- Elena gives the relic to Bonnie
- Damon notices that Lily is missing
- Damon tells Bonnie and Elena to start the spell
- Damon leaves to retrieve his mother
- Lily gets ready to feed one of the vampires the blood
- Damon stops Lily and smashes the blood
- Lily is mortified
- Damon wants to leave
- Lily refuses to leave her companions behind ("These people are my family.")
- Damon is stunned and hurt (I can't blame him for feeling that)
- Damon tells Lily that Stefan is his family and if she won't help him save Stefan then he will leave her to rot
- "These freaks may be your family but Stefan Salvatore is mine." -Damon
- "If you don't wanna help, I will leave you here to rot!" -Damon

- Bonnie starts chanting with Elena holding the relic
- Damon and Lily arrive and grab a hold of them
- Kai appears and calls out to Bonnie
- Bonnie smirks at Kai
- A white light consumes Bonnie and her companions

- I was not expecting that at all...wow! I kinda feel bad for Kai

- Sarah is checking her phone
- Enzo walks in
- Sarah wonders if she met Enzo last night since she has a text from him
- Enzo apologizes to Sarah for bringing her into his life
- Enzo isn't interested in revenge anymore
- "You're no ordinary girl Sarah Salvatore. You deserve better." -Enzo
- "Sarah Salvatore? Why would you call me that?" -Sarah
- Jo checks Alaric over
- Jo wants Alaric alive for at least 18 years for their child
Salvatore Boarding House
- Lily looks at the computer
- Damon walks in and tells Lily that she'll get use to technology soon
- Lily reveals that she was the angel that Stefan saw as a boy
- Lily fled when she felt her hunger for Stefan's blood rise
- Lily apologizes to Damon
- Damon tells Lily to get some rest
- Lily tells Damon that she won't be herself until she gets her companions back
- Damon tells Lily that her prison world won't be going anywhere
AU - 1903 (House)
- Kai searches for food
- Kai comes across the dessicated companions
- One companion attacks Kai
- Can Kai die in that prison world?

- Elena looks at the phone of Damon and Lily
- "You have her eyes." -Elena
- Damon can't believe that Elena kept the photo
- Elena brings up that she liked seeing this side of Damon (being the son)
- Damon is still angry at Lily for abandoning him and Stefan

- Stefan and Caroline are in bed together by the fire
- "You were right. Your way is much more fun." -Caroline
Salvatore Boarding House
- Damon and Elena are making out
- Bonnie intervenes ("Awkward timing.")
- Elena fixes herself up and leaves to check on Alaric

- Damon turns the faucet on for a noise disturbance
- Damon reminds Bonnie that his mother could be crazy upstairs with a desire to return to 1903
- Bonnie tells him that they won't be going back to 1903 ever
- Bonnie gives Damon a gift...the vampire cure from 1994
- Damon is surprised
- Bonnie finished what Damon had started in 1994 (since his Nova Scotia notes suggested)
- Bonnie knows that Damon wanted that cure for Elena
- "What if I don't want it for her now?" -Damon
- Bonnie tells Damon that its not her decision to make
- Bonnie walks away
- Oh wow, the fans were right about the cure returning to the present day
- How will Damon give it to? Only Elena and Caroline can use it without aging rapidly like Katherine did.

I'm still shocked that Lily had 'travel companions' with her in that 1903 prison world. Will they pose a problem later?
I'm also very shocked that Bonnie left Kai in 1903. I definitely didn't think that was an option since he's the Gemini Coven leader now. What does that mean for the Coven with their leader in 'prison'?
Bonnie's gift to Damon was a surprise (I love the moment between them) because I didn't think they'd bring the cure back into it. I mean because of Katherine, they learned that the older vampires will just rapidly age if they take it so the only vampires on the show that would survive taking it would be Caroline and Elena (or Bonnie's mom). Yet what is the purpose of bringing this cure (plot device) back?
I also don't know how I feel about Stefan/Caroline hooking up. I mean as a Staroline fan, I'm all for it but it just seems like a cop-out since we needed both of their humanities off to get them to hook up. It somehow feels cheapened.
Alaric and Enzo teaming up! Finally we have that on screen. Even though they failed tonight against Stefan/Caroline, Alaric did get Enzo to rethink his revenge plan against Stefan. Plus is Enzo the only one outside of Alaric, Jo and Kai that know about Baby Saltzman that's on the way?
