An old friend added me on Facebook the other day. She was part of the anarcho-squatting group I used to hang out with around 8 years ago. It was so fascinating to see what she had been up to over the years through her photos. To see how she had changed over the years. The black, patched hoody replaced by earth-tone skirts. The photos that stuck out were the ones of her climbing through walls of ice on some glacier, kayaking out somewhere and her home. Herself and her boyfriend renovated it themselves. It had plants. And a wall of books. Makeshift shelves and furniture you would find in a charity store. It really resonated with me. It was like confirming the idea of what I want my home to be like. And it's coincidental that this comes around the same time as hearing that Navi likes condos.

A lot of people comment on how great Scott & Brian's house is. How warm and cozy it is but big enough to entertain a lot of people. The colours, the layout, the garden, the location, everything. It seems so ideal and peaceful. It's hard not to like it. Recently we've had a friend move into a new home; a large one-room condo. It's neat and cool but I would never want to live there. Navi said it's perfect and she would love to live in a place like that. I was surprised because I always thought we were on the same page with what our ideal home would be if affordability was never an issue. It's going to be interesting to see where we find a middle ground if (when) we eventually move from our current place.

The red canyons in Utah have been on my mind for years. A trip to see and hike the area has never been realistic. Soon it will be. I will be graduating in two months time and hopefully working not long afterwards. Actually getting the opportunity to save and plan for this becomes realistic. I'm only slowly realising that I'll get to finally do some of the things I've been waiting a long time to do. It's a pretty big door in my life that's about to open.
