An interesting day.
So I was holding out for a job with a construction company I'd like to work for. But after two weeks I couldn't stay unemployed any longer and got in touch with a decent sounding framing crew on Craigslist. I emailed them yesterday morning and they called me last night. It was sorted. But half an hour later I find out that the company I want in with have a spot but haven't contacted me yet. I call up the craigslist crew and say I can't work but if they're stuck, I can do the day for them. They reply 'don't worry about it'. So I arrange a brief interview with John, the boss of Quinton Construction for today at 1pm. I get woken up up at 8am by Ryan, the Craigslist guy asking do I want to work for the day. I say sorry, no can do. But it was kinda neat. I inquired with them in the first place because their post had good grammar (rare on Craigslist) and stated "No druggies, no boozers". The best indication that they have their shit together. And I know they got in touch with me twice because I sounded the same. Was a little boost in confidence.
Anyways, interview went well. I start work tomorrow. There are some small aspects of the companies policies I don't understand but I'm happy to be working again and wont cause a fuss.
As I've mentioned before, my dad misses me a good bit. He figured out how to use Skype so we had our first video call a short while ago. I don't remember the last time I saw him so happy. Almost hyper. Skype video actually had a significant part in Navi and I doing so well while being at such a distance so I honestly understand his excitement.
At night I've been feeling 'off'. I've talked about nostalgia before and how it actually feels like a problem sometimes. Recently, at night when my head hits the pillow, I'll think back to some distant memory. Sometimes I act on it. Last night I 'visited' the village I used to go to on summer holidays when I was a child with Google street view. It was eerie. We stayed in a mobile home (trailer house?) in a seaside village in the south of Ireland. Most of it had changed. The fields with haystacks we played in are now mini suburbs with small summer houses. The little corner shop is now a mini market chain. And the mobile home park we stayed in is now half empty and and falling into disrepair. It was like a ghost town. And it was kind of upsetting.
Regardless, life is going pretty well right now.
