Life in the Dark Lane

This is a post from a friend of mine. She had a bad ride on the Metro. I think we know what to do.......

>Prejudice...
Last night, I got harassed on metro. No, this wasn't the first time, but I think it was the worst time. It left a very, very bad taste in my mouth about children.

Was minding my own business and I hear the woman (wearing a metro security uniform) sitting in the sit parallel to me mutter, "It must be Halloween.". I ignore her, but she keeps going. I politely interject with several good points to try to break her ignorance. Don't know why I wasted my breath.

Then this little girl (probably about ten or twelve) sits in the sit adjacent to this woman and starts saying similar things. The woman starts feeding the girl's prejudice. I politely interject, again.

They were frustrating and I ponder getting on the next train. Although, decided against it because that would mean I let them take away my right to sit and be where I please.

Let me cut to the part that bothered me the most. (I'll probably post more of the actually conversation when I have more time, but I just wanted to get this out.) The girl asked the woman, if she could lock me up/arrest me. The woman said things like she wasn't a cop and for what. Then the girl is like, "Well, you could say she assaulted me. You saw her touch me, right?" and etc.

WTF!? I didn't even go near that child. At this point I was half way tempted to hit the emergency button and get a police officer. That is a heavy crime she was trying to frame me for and for what... not looking like her?

I decided against the police because I was out number and it was clear that both would be willing to lie. I wasn't sure what to do. Thankfully, the girl's older sister came and sat next to her. The older sister told her she needed to shut up and to stop bothering me.

*shakes head* Just another for me to despise and mistrust most people...
