There is so much more to a book than its content. Its pages often tell more about the book than the words printed on them. If the book has those glossy pages its usually a text book or some literature forced upon you, frequently a book you have to learn from not one you desire. The book's weight plays a key factor, a book with heft makes me think its densely packed with facts and that I am exercising my mind as well as my body by holding it for long periods. The books has to have a certain size as well, it almost has an ergonomic nature to its binding. A book too big will only be read at a desk, a book too small could be reduced to bathroom reading. The pages must fit well in your hands, perhaps a bit awkward in the beginning as you discover this new world, but well worn by the middle, and prone to remaining open near the close. But above all this I think the best thing about a book is its smell. Your face is pressed in its pages for so long a book's aroma must invite you in. The bests books stink like old ink pressed on brittle paper and wreak of knowledge.
