something to understand a dingo a little better

Apr 27, 2010 17:31

I'd just like to point out that this isn't designed to belittle or insult anyone other then myself

as many of you may know.... my view on my part of the furry fandom..... is a little different then your average fur
to the point where I really don't see myself as part of the fandom

one way of putting it is classifying my under 'otherkin'

but considering the mystical leanings of the word... it's not something I've ever been truly been comfortable with

I have on a few occasions likened it to being trans-gender...... except different and easier (socially)

at heart I am a dingo who is human..... not a werewolf (or were-dingo)..... I can't transform (althought I'd love to be able too... that's for dreams).. or do anything abnormal......
I am physically human..... I am Just mentally a dingo given the body (and IQ) of one
it's something that has affected my whole life, because I've thought like this since I was 5

which is why this articals is so interesting
This is an study of furries, based on research done by d rg_kcgebasi and others at Anthrocon and published in 2008 in Society & Animals (volume 16, pp. 197-222).

in addition to developing a basic typology of furries, the study actually proposes a species equivalent, as it were, of gender identity problems

The parallels between the distorted furry dimension and GID criteria are remarkable. Distorted furry types may possibly represent a condition which we have tentatively dubbed Species Identity Disorder. Clearly the existence of our hypothesized construct of species identity disorder and the extent to which the distorted furry types resemble GID remain to be seen. Much additional work is needed to replicate and validate both the furry typology and the proposed construct of species identity disorder.

it was both interesting and verifying to see this is an official print

if only so I can keep a copy of the artical.. point to it and show I'm not crazy...^_^ (nor more then usual anyway)

now on the subject of trans-species change operations.. in the possible future...... I'd have to see how well they worked first and i would like to keep my vocal cords along with useful digits
