Making as little sound as possible, Polaris rose to his hooves and looked around.
Ponyville was completely dark, save for the single light in the upper floors of the library. Celestia's apprentice was up late studying again, apparently.
For a moment he considered putting this meeting off again. But no -- Starsmoke had already indicated Stella Eclipse was getting annoyed by the constant delays.
Irritably, Polaris flicked his tail.
His gaze fell on the sleeping foals, and his expression softened.
Carefully, so as not to wake them, he took their blanket in his teeth and pulled it higher over them. Still asleep, Notturna sighed and shifted closer to her twin.
He smiled down fondly at them, then crept away.
