First, I'd like to remind everyone here that, despite my excitement and occasional spamming, women's sports really aren't paid much thought in the USA. See the men's WC final between the Netherlands and Spain being shown on ABC, while the Women's WC final between the USA and Japan was not.
There are only 16 teams to compete, and the entire pot is $6 million -- compared to the several million the men's WINNERS get.
However, between all the drama of Brazil and the USA's come-from-behind victory there, the country came out of the woodwork to support the women's team.
And then we played in the final versus Japan.
