Why, yes, I _would_ like some cheese with my whine!

I fucking hate the stigma against OCs in fandom.

I really do.

It just smacks of a lack of imagination to me.

I mean, there is a whole wide world to explore, and you want to limit yourself?

That's like going to a pool but only allowing yourself use of the available toys. It's a lot of fun if you bring your own to add to the experience.

I mean, I get that people want to write and read about the characters they love. But don't you ever want to explore the things canon only hints at? Don't you wonder about the split between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes? Don't you wonder about the discovery of ambient magic? Don't you want to know how the Andalites came by the morphing technology? Don't you want to think about the early days of Tortall? The second Merlin? Other wizarding schools? What it might be like for someone who has never been to the outer worlds and sees the Alliance as a protector? The Lord Holders and some of the craftsmen? The early days of the Jedi, or even when people realised the Force was there?

Oh, right.

To write these stories, you need OCs.

Nobody wants to read about OCs.

My bad.

fuck the haters, haters to the left, puck has strong opinions
