Because mine is the special crack.
Okay, short rundown.
On
atlaland we had the New Visions game:
Your game this week is to create a concept for a future or past-set Avatar series. It may mention characters who show up in Avatar: the Last Airbender as appropriate, but none of them should be the main characters.
So I did that.
Buuut, being the MASSIVE DORK THAT I AM, I went... just a little bit overboard, in order to score points in all categories.
So, without further ado...
Spirits' Warriors
(Formerly known as Lovely Warrior Sailor Spirit)
Who wouldn't want a chance to be a hero? Four ordinary girls from Republic City are granted powers by spirits in order to stop four hanyou who want to take over the world. Guided by their mysterious mentor, the girls do battle to save their planet -- and discover that not everything is as it seems.
HEROES
Our heroes are four ordinary teenage girls. Two of them are 'benders, two of them are not. Like any normal teen, they have varied hobbies and interests, and could be anybody you know. They might even be you.
Luka (
Anika Noni Rose): Luka is seventeen years old and has been been a dancer since she turned five. She is very calm and adapts easily to any sudden changes of circumstance. She was the first warrior to be recruited, by a river spirit. Her powered form is called
Qalupalik. Thuy (
Azama Mew): Thuy is sixteen years old and comes from Kyoshi Island. She is very cheerful and ready to step up to defend anyone who needs it. She was the second warrior recruited, by an earth spirit. Her powered form is called
Qilin.
Chika (
Hisakawa Aya): Chika is fifteen years old and is a quiet, artistic person. She'd much rather be left alone to paint while someone else saves the world. She was the third warrior recruited, and the lightning spirit had to all but force it on her. Her powered form is called
Huang.
Kamala (
Raven-Symoné): Kamala is fourteen years old and is an atheletic, determined girl. Her favourite sport is earthball. As the daughter of a khan, she is well advanced in her airbending training, though she has yet to reach a master's level. She was the fourth warrior recruited, by a wind spirit. Her powered form is called
Garuda.
VILLAINS
The villains are hanyou, the offspring of mortals and lesser spirits. Forbidden from the mortal world, these four ignored that and crossed out of the spirit world to no good purpose. Hanyou have inhuman abilities; their main power comes from their spirit-parent. Crossing into the mortal world granted their other abilities of teleportation and blasts of force.
Thulium (
Wataru Takagi): Also known as "Thule", this hanyou is clever and dangerous. He has a great thirst for knowledge and will go to great lengths to acquire it. He learns from his mistakes and adapts for the future. His main ability is creating illusions.
Gypsum (
Wendee Lee): Gypsum is rash and impulsive. She dislikes being on the ground almost as much as she dislikes being still, and has a tendency to levitate. She fidgets while she hovers, a source of amusement or irritation to her fellows. She tends to attack first and think second. While she does learn from her mistakes, she works best when directed by someone else.
Cinnabar (
Kim Mai Guest): Cinnabar is quiet and mothering. She rare attacks on her own unless pressed, but she is a dangerous force in her own right. She is fond of young children and won't stand for them to be injured. If she's not with children, she can be found reading. Her main ability is an electric touch, which she was dismayed to learn she could not control after crossing to the mortal realm. She is learning to control it now.
Cobalt (
Lyon Smith): He is fairly calm and seems emotionless, and is rarely seen without food or drink in his hands. As clever as his rival Thulium, Cobalt tends to strategise with an eye to the long term; it is suspected that the plan to conquer the world was his. Cobalt's main ability is the projection of a field that causes people to simply ignore him.
OTHERS
Tarngek (
Johanna Braddy): A mysterious figure who refuses to divulge her true name, though Luka has noted that tarngek is one of the Old Ice words for a helping spirit. Her costume is similar to that of the Warriors, and they see her as a sort of mentor. The Warriors are unaware that Tarngek has appeared to the hanyou as well.
Avatar Sarantsatsral (
Tress MacNeill): Also known by the name "Saran", the current Air Avatar is working on her mastery of air. She has met all requirements save one -- to invent a new airbending move. Saran has mastered the other required elements as well as the Avatar State itself; her inability to meet mastery in her native element greatly frustrates her, especially as she's just passed her thirtieth year.
Nanase (
Jennie Kwan): A good friend of Avatar Saran, Nanase is native to the Fire Nation and a type of hanyou herself. The daughter of a koi-boy and a mortal girl, Nanase's only ability is to breathe underwater. Her skin also has koi patterns that are mostly covered by her clothes. She and Saran met while Saran was undergoing her firebending training; when Saran met her Fire mastery and left, Nanase travelled with her.
Amaruq (
Wataru Takagi): Amaruq is a recent transfer student to Republic City Senior High. Quiet and studious, he has formed a fast friendship with Thuy, who is another recent transfer. He and his younger sister are mixed Nation, specifically of Fire and Water.
Miaka (
Kim Mai Guest): Like her older brother, Miaka is a recent arrival to Republic City. Unlike Amaruq, however, she attends Republic City Vocational School, where she is looking into becoming a teacher. She has made friends with Chika, an aspiring artist.
