Okay, there's something I've been meaning to ask, but what is a "Big Bang" fic? My wife was writing one for her SPN fandom, but I never got around to figuring out just what that means.
Continuing my habit of referring to other things that explain better than I do, from the avatarbigbang FAQ:
The Big Bang concept was started around 2006 by a Harry/Draco group. The idea was to write a novella length story, over 50,000 words in length. Since then the term has come to represent fanfiction challenges in all fandoms with a large word count.
For us, the bare minimum is 10,000 words. I'm revising my limit to 50 K, however, given that I'm nearly halfway to 10 K and I'm only on chapter two. >.>
