You do a good job of describing Ichiro, though I think a mention of why Liu writes on the walls rather than talks would have been good. (I should have mentioned this earlier but I only thought of it on this read-through. *hangs head*)
I like the constant bits of Ichiro fidgeting. It's an interesting contrast to Liu, who I think only moves to write on the walls, look at Ichiro, and at one point tuck his feet up. Which is interesting in and of itself as it implies some major trust for him to take his feet off the stone around Ichiro.
Mmm, the implication that the ring really does work is cool. Earthfolk interact with stones differently than other kinds of people do. I like how specific you are about chrysocolla, as well as the fact that you're using its actual magical properties. <3 ( ... )
