First and foremost -- I will NOT be available on Monday the 21st at all. And I won't be available until after one PM on Tuesday the 22nd. This is because I'm going on a choir retreat to the Sierras, and like HELL I'm bringing my laptop along. Not like I'd have internet anyway. I may or may not be available Friday the 25th through Sunday the 27th -- my birthday is on the 24th and I may or may not go to San Francisco.
That aside - serious business ahoy!
This morning, I read an entry on my LJ from a woman who I strongly admire. She is outspoken and intelligent, and quite a strong person. Her post was about a man who had followed her home from a store -- in fact had gone to that store only to talk to her, and hit on and harass her. Being married, she professed a lack of interest, and then out came the scare tactics.
"Do you think I'm going to rape you?"
"Do I look like a rapist?"
That is an intimidation tactic, full stop.
The problem with that kind of man is that even if you tell them that you have a boyfriend/husband, they won't take it as an "I am in a monogamous relationship". They'll hear it as "I am another man's property." Some will even take it as a challenge.
It's worse if you're single - they don't understand why you won't be theirs. And that's what it is - they want a woman. They don't want you, they want access to your vagina. Only then will they be Real, Whole Men. A woman should not be single - then she doesn't belong to anyone! Why, she might allow anybody access to The Holy Land -- or even worse, nobody at all. DDDDD: Such horrors cannot be allowed!
I have a newsflash for you, gentlemen - it's almost the 2010s. The world has moved on, and women are no longer property -- or at least they shouldn't be.
