Here in Japan, the system doesn't always work, but at least there's a big move for people to TRY. I mean, I was seperating my trash wrong apparently, and they just didn't take it. Nothing like piling up trash to make one feel a bit frantic to comply.

I don't know exactly how one would keep track of recycling to calculate rebates, unless perhaps counties that had higher recycling use got the help. Also, I think a big help would be to give tax cuts for taking the intiative to install environmentally safe devices for homes and vehicles, or even if certain vehicles for private consumer use were taxed more for being so un-healthy. All in all, I think the government needs to acknowledge that the environment is part of their responsibility to the community. However, I think that too many people make it ENTIRELY the governments responsibility. So much of it lies with the individual.

... and who the hell complains about a wind turbine? Don't most people complain about like, jails or quarries in their backyards? Not big windmills? Heck, in my state, I pass by a nuclear plant on the way to visit my older sister. I sure wish it was a wind turbine.

See, that's the kind of thing we need. Nort sorting the rubbish? tough. No collection for you. But over here people are whining and saying that the councils are just gcutting service and making money

Well, over here there is a plan to put little devices in council bins that measure their weight then charge people based on the weight they throw away. if they can do that with normal bins they must be able to with recycle bins as well.
But we have adverts on TV at the min ute for B&Q selling solar pannels and little wind turbines you can put on your house - these need to be subsidised and rewarded and get vast amounts of merry government shiny happiness splurged all over them

The individual can do more and should do more - but the sad thing is they won't. People are lazy - especially when the consequences of their actiosn won't hit them personally

That's what I just gasp over. But every time a wind turbine is proposed you get all these NIMBIES charging forwards protesting. It's a WIND TURBINE?! An ELEGANT, SILENT, CLEAN, PRETTY WINDMILL! But they still bitch
